[Kurume Lunch] Crispy and chewy Neapolitan pizza baked in a stone oven
Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.
This time we will introduce a pizza restaurant in Kurume City that was renovated and reopened in April 2024.
You'll definitely want to visit tomorrow. Let's go.
PIZZA PARADISE Kurume Umebun Main Branch (Kurume City) - Authentic Neapolitan pizza baked in a stone oven
"PIZZA PARADISE Kurume Umebun Main Branch" serves authentic Neapolitan pizza, baked in a high-temperature stone oven.
It's located on the corner of Noda intersection, so it's easy to get to by car. Parking is also available.
What surprised me when I entered the store was the heat from the kiln that reached all the way to the cash register.
The kitchen must be a battlefield. We can only eat delicious pizza because of the staff who stand in front of the high-temperature oven. I am filled with gratitude.
Freshly baked pizza can be enjoyed at the eat-in corner in the store or as take-out.
Great value lunch sets available! A wide variety of authentic Neapolitan pizzas
Now let's take a look at the menu.
"PIZZA PARADISE" serves Neapolitan-style pizza. The dough is made with special flour and fermented at low temperature for a long time, then stretched and shaped by hand. It is baked in a high-temperature stone oven at over 400 degrees for a short time, resulting in a crispy surface and a chewy interior, with a distinctive texture.
There are 15 different types lined up on the menu, and you can choose between small size (approximately 18cm in diameter, 0.5 to 1 serving) or large size (approximately 25cm in diameter, 1 to 2 servings).
Also, for eat-in only between 11:00 and 15:00, when you order a large size, not only will you get a "mini salad" but you'll also get the added bonus of all soft drinks being 300 yen.
We also recommend the "Lunch Set" (1,500 yen), available only from 11:00 to 15:00! It's a great value set that includes a small pizza, salad, side dish, soup, and drink. The portions are also very generous.
The "Lunch Set" basically comes with a choice of four types of pizza (Margherita/Eggplant Bolognese/Mentaiko Potato Cream/Teriyaki Chicken and Mayo Corn), but you can change to almost any type of pizza for an additional 100 to 300 yen.
Let's try authentic Neapolitan pizza!
This time, I ordered one small and one large a la carte, as well as one "lunch set."
Once you place your order, cooking begins immediately.
He is extremely efficient as many customers come every day. I guess that's what they call a pizza chef.
It seemed as if the pizza was being sucked into the stone oven as if it was floating, but it was only for a moment.
Before I knew it, they had already started plating the food.
No, it might be more accurate to say that the presentation was finished.
So, here is the "Prosciutto and Salad" that I ordered as a single item in the R size.
The prosciutto is not placed randomly, but is placed according to each cut, so you don't have to worry about saying, "My pizza is missing prosciutto" when sharing.
The balance between the saltiness of the prosciutto and the tomato sauce is just perfect!
It was topped with a "salad" of arugula and baby leaves, so I couldn't stop eating it, even though I told myself that it had virtually no calories.
The "Quattro Formaggi" that I ordered as a small size is made with 4 kinds of cheese, so if you like cheese, you should definitely try it. You can add honey from "Mawatari Bee Farm" to your liking.
The small size is small, so you can eat as many as you like. It's also a good idea to order several different types.
The pizza I chose from the "Lunch Set" (small pizza, salad, side dish, soup, drink) was the "Seasonal Vegetable Garden Style" pizza, a combination of colorful locally grown vegetables and Genoa sauce.
I wonder if you can sense the volume. Even though it's a small size, it feels particularly voluminous.
This is the salad and side dish plate.
The refreshingly sour side dishes are a great way to cleanse your palate after eating pizza! There's also a generous serving of salad, so you won't feel guilty. You can enjoy pizza to your heart's content.
Be sure to check out the sweets at Patisserie Cafe Pousser!
Another great thing about this shop is that you can enjoy sweets from Hirokawa's famous Patisserie Cafe Pousser.
They sell puddings, roll cakes, mini chiffon cakes, and more, and you can also take them out.
The sweets are a separate matter. The most popular items tend to sell out first, so if you want to enjoy the sweets too, it might be best to go early.
They also sell frozen pizzas made in-house, which would be convenient to have in your freezer at home.
If you ever feel like eating pizza in Kurume, please remember this place! (Text by Yorimitsu)
