[Hirao Lunch] Chewy texture and delicious homemade natural yeast! Highly recommended pizza for bread lovers

Hello. This is the Daily Bread Diary of a bread nerd living in Fukuoka who travels around Japan eating bread.

I'm still learning about yeast in bread, but when I hear the words "homemade natural yeast" my excitement flutters.

This time, I went there with excitement, having heard that they serve special pizza baked with "homemade natural yeast"!

It's like being overseas! Enjoy pizza made with original dough at "Pizzeria Gnamo" (Hirao, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka)

Pizzeria Gnamo is located in the Hirao area, which is home to many attractive restaurants, and is a 9-minute walk from Nishitetsu Hirao Station and a 15-minute walk from Yakuin Station on the Nishitetsu and Nanakuma Subway Lines.

This restaurant serves pizza made with original dough, handmade by the owner chef using homemade natural yeast.

The chic concrete exterior will have you excited even before you enter!

When you open the door, you'll be greeted by an interior so beautiful that you'll feel as if you've been warped overseas!

In the kitchen at the back you can see the oven where the pizza is baked.

Check out the lunch menu

When you think of pizza, you probably imagine a large serving to share, but this restaurant's "Pizza Lunch" is a single-serving portion. It comes with a choice of three types of today's pizza and a salad for 1,760 yen.

There is also a "Pasta Lunch" (1,760 yen) which includes a choice of three types of today's pasta main and a salad.

To either lunch, you can add on "Today's Soup" (440 yen), "Today's Dessert" (330 yen), a "Drink" (330 yen), or a "W Set" which includes dessert and drink (550 yen).

They also have an alcoholic drink menu, so it's a great place to enjoy a drink during the day.

I ordered the "Pizza Lunch" (1,760 yen) with the "Soup of the Day" (440 yen) added to it.

First, the salad that comes with the set.

It is filled with large chunks of eggplant and cauliflower, and is sprinkled with fragrant almonds. It looks very stylish♪

Each ingredient was seasoned nicely and it was delicious!

I had heard that the dinner appetizers and meat dishes were also delicious, and after trying this salad, I was convinced that information was correct! I'm even more curious about the dinner menu.

The "soup of the day" for this day was "Cold new onion and potato soup."

Packed with the delicious flavors of sweet new onions and potatoes, it has a refreshing taste that's perfect for this season! You can also enjoy the texture, making it a "soup to eat."

Enjoy the delicious, carefully made dough! The classic pizza, "Margherita"

The pizza dough at this restaurant is handmade by the owner and chef.

The owner chef was impressed by the pizza he encountered in Italy, and after much research he perfected this special dough.

The dough is made by blending flour from Italy and Hokkaido, fermenting it with homemade natural yeast made from bananas and dried figs, and then baking it slowly in the in-store pizza oven, taking more than twice the usual time.

By baking it slowly, the pizza becomes chewy and moist, but also fluffy and tall, due to the air it contains.

I think the chewy texture and deep flavor of the homemade natural yeast are the greatest attractions of Pizzeria Gnamo!

The Margherita that I ordered had a milky taste from the mozzarella and Grana cheese, which went perfectly with the sour tomatoes and refreshingly aromatic basil.

Each ingredient had its own distinct flavor while blending seamlessly with the dough, making for a simple yet incredibly delicious pizza!

This is the "Spicy Pork Belly, Jumbo Beans, and Red Onion Pizza" ordered by my friend.

There are plenty of ingredients on top! It's topped with large pieces of fresh vegetables, which gives it a great texture. The juicy and spicy pork belly and the delicious dough combine to make this a delicious dish.

You can enjoy it by yourself, or share and enjoy different types. Although it is a single serving, it was a size that could be shared easily.

I'm also curious about the evening menu!

In addition to pizza and pasta, the dinner menu also includes meat dishes and antipasto (appetizer) dishes.

There are many menu items that use seasonal ingredients, making you want to return again and again.
