ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Fukuoka is located in front of Hakata Station in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City.

It is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk (from the Hakata exit) from JR Hakata Station, the gateway to Kyushu.

Our destination this time is the "Summer Fruit Dessert Buffet - Sweezoo 2024" which is being held only on Saturdays and Sundays until September 1st, 2024 at the all-day dining restaurant "Crown Cafe" on the first floor.

"Sweezoo" is a coined word that combines "Sweets" and "Zoo."

This is a dessert buffet in collaboration with the Fukuoka City Zoo! When you enter the venue, you will be greeted by cute sweets with animal motifs.

The 90-minute session runs from 15:00 to 16:30, and costs 4,800 yen for adults, 2,800 yen for elementary school students, 1,500 yen for children aged 4 to 6 (preschoolers), and free for children aged 0 to 3.

You can enjoy all-you-can-eat sweets and savory dishes (light meals) from a total of 40 varieties.

There are many menu items that use summer fruits such as mangoes and melons, but the most notable are the cute sweets that feature popular characters from the Fukuoka City Zoo.

First, let's start by introducing the sweets lined up near the entrance.

Chachamaru's Mango Tiramisu

The most popular of the animal-themed sweets is "Chachamaru's Mango Tiramisu," inspired by Chachamaru, the handsome lion from the Fukuoka City Zoo.

This tiramisu is made of mango mousse and a layer of sponge soaked in Italian mascarpone cheese and mango puree. Each one has a cute face drawn on it, made of chocolate.

It looks so cute that on the day I visited there were many people saying, "I want to eat this!"

This is "Linda's Banana Roll Cake," which is based on Linda the giraffe.

"Cute and fluffy Nozomi-chan cupcakes" are based on the sheep Nozomi-chan.

The cream gives it a fluffy texture, and the horns are made of white chocolate. Even the smiling mouth is cute!

Served in a glass, "Rabbit Melon Shortcake" features beautiful layers of cream, sponge, and melon ♡ The bunny ears are irresistible too.

"A little clumsy Sunny-chan cookie" is a cocoa cookie.

My favorite thing about the Fukuoka City Zoo is the Malayan sun bear! Sunny the Malayan sun bear is the motif of this zoo, and I just can't get enough of it!

It was so cute that I almost regret eating it, but I took a bite. It was not only sweet, but also slightly bitter, and very delicious.

Not just sweets! A wide selection of savory dishes (light meals)

There is also a full lineup of over 10 types of savory dishes.

One item that caught my eye in particular was the "Cold Pasta with Gazpacho Sauce in a Watermelon Case," where pasta was served inside a watermelon!

A cold pasta dish with gazpacho soup that doesn't require cooking. It's packed with tomatoes and has a refreshing taste.

These are the "Sweet Corn Quiche" (pictured below, foreground) and "Chicken and Vegetable Tortilla" (pictured, background), both of which are made with sweet corn that is in season now. Both are bite-sized.
