Plenty of fruit! "The dough is exquisite" - Homemade crepes from a popular cafe (Haruyoshi, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)

2024.05.19

Hello ♪ This is code, who is sensitive to trends.

This time, we will introduce the popular "homemade crepes" at a cafe in Haruyoshi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. We tried three types, including new and classic creations.

Enjoy seasonal fruits in luxury! Mei Cafe, a cafe attached to a stylish boutique hotel (Haruyoshi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)

Mei Cafe is located about a six-minute walk from Watanabedori Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line.

This cafe is located in the lounge space on the first floor of the boutique hotel "Hotel Mei." It is open to non-guests from 11:00am until 6:00pm.

You can enjoy sweets such as crepes made with seasonal fruits, with a focus on "real fruit sandwiches made by a greengrocer" from "Daiwa Supermarket" in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture.

Made with whole fresh fruit! Crispy and chewy crepes

This time, we will introduce three types of crepes.

The shop's unique dough is generously coated with butter and baked in a special way. It is also topped with cane sugar, giving it a light texture and a mellow sweetness.

The top part had a slightly crispy texture and was so delicious that I wanted to eat just the dough.

Another thing to note is that the taste of the batter varies depending on the crepe.

Mei Cafe Crepes

The first is the limited-edition "Citrus Crepe" (1,280 yen). *Available only for eat-in.

The dough, made with plenty of Earl Grey tea leaves, has a fragrant flavor.

The orange served with it is a whole, carefully selected fruit.

The refreshing sweet and sour taste is perfect for this time of year.

It is said to be inspired by the French pastry crepe suzette, and comes with a side of warm homemade orange sauce.

It has a refreshing flavor made with oranges, butter, orange liqueur, etc. The sweetness of the orange is strong and goes perfectly with the dough.

The Earl Grey flavor kneaded into the dough combines with the sweet and sour flavor of orange, allowing you to enjoy the change in flavor with every bite.

It is also recommended to add gelato (additional charge) as a topping.

The second is the "Banana Crepe" (880 yen), which can be enjoyed all year round (take-out is also available, presentation may change).

For an additional 250 yen, you can add the same "special cream" used in the shop's popular "fruit sandwich" as a topping.

The plain dough is topped with a whole banana.

The "special cream" topping melts softly in your mouth and has an irresistible sweet milk flavor.

The combination of rich, sticky and sweet banana, plentiful chocolate sauce and special cream was delicious.

The third one is the "Chocolate Banana Crepe" (900 yen). This is a limited-time crepe (also available for takeout, Presentation will vary.)

The dough is made with plenty of cocoa, and is topped with a banana and chocolate sauce. I added the "special cream" for an additional 250 yen.

The cocoa dough, which is inspired by fondant au chocolat, has a slightly bitter taste that goes perfectly with the salty butter and sweet banana.

The chocolate sauce on top is also sweet, so the overall sweetness is well balanced and I would especially recommend it to chocolate lovers.

Seasonal drinks that change every month

The seasonal drink changes every month, and in May it will be "Strawberry Hojicha Latte" (700 yen for eat-in, 670 yen for take-out).

Homemade strawberry jam, intentionally left with large chunks, is combined with organic roasted green tea and oat milk.

The mellow flavor goes perfectly with the sweet and sour taste of the strawberries, making this drink a very popular choice among the staff.

The photo shows a takeaway option, but you can also enjoy it for eat-in.
