Great for breakfast, lunch and drinks! 11 restaurants at "Dates Annex" next to Hakata Station (Fukuoka City)

This time, we will introduce "Dates Annex," a commercial facility located at the Chikushi Exit (east side) of JR Hakata Station, which was renovated and reopened on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

This is the first renovation since the hotel opened in 2007.

Based on the concept of "a food and beverage floor with a wide variety of food choices that anyone can enjoy at any time," the mall has 11 stores offering a wide range of food, from Hakata specialties to pubs, fast food, cafes, and convenience stores.

All stores are glass-walled, creating an open atmosphere that makes it easy to just drop in.

On the first floor, JR Hakata City will have its first pub, as well as four other popular local restaurants.

Here are some noteworthy shops.

HUB

Located just in front of the Chikushiguchi station is JR Hakata City's first pub, HUB. It is a British-style pub that has branches all over Japan, mainly in the Kanto region.

It is a "cash on delivery system" where you pay at the register only for the amount of food and drink you want to eat and drink.

The store has monitors set up all over the place, so you can enjoy watching a wide variety of sports, including soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and rugby. With a drink in hand, you can have fun and have fun together.

Among the wide variety of beers, be sure to check out the Hub Ale (1/2 pint glass 520 yen - 1 pint glass 990 yen), which is shipped directly from the brewery. You can enjoy its pleasant bitterness and richness.

There was also a wide selection of non-alcoholic cocktails and soft drinks, including "English Garden Rose Tea" (600 yen), a fruit tea made with oolong tea.

As for food, they have a selection of dishes that go well with alcohol, such as their signature mini-sized "Bite-sized Fish and Chips" (4 Pieces, 400 yen, front right of the photo), "Delicious! Oyster and Bacon Ajillo (with baguette)" (800 yen, front left of the photo), and "Prosciutto Caesar Salad" (450 yen, back right of the photo).

It's great that they have a wide selection of dishes, from light ones like the quick-serve "Crispy Pasta" (350 yen) to hearty options like pizza and pasta!

Hakata's specialty dish Kisuimaru

A popular local restaurant has opened a stall called "Hakata Specialty Cuisine Kisuimaru." As the name suggests, they serve a variety of Hakata specialties, including Spicy Fish Eggs, sesame mackerel, sashimi, motsunabe, mizutaki, and yakitori.

One of the reasons why Kisuimaru is so popular is that when you order a set meal, you can eat as much special Spicy Fish Eggs as you want! At the Daitos Annex store, there is a wide variety of breakfast set menus that can be ordered between 7:30 and 10:00. There is a wide range of prices, from the "Morning Raw Egg Set" (690 yen) to the luxurious "Morning Hakata Sesame Mackerel Set" (6 pieces 1,590 yen - 8 pieces 1,890 yen) and "Morning Hakata Motsutaki Nabe Set" (2,090 yen).

By the way, "Motsutaki Nabe" is a dish that is a mix of "Mizutaki" and "Motsunabe".

On the regular menu, be sure to check out the luxurious "Hakata specialty hotpot and choice of side dish set meal" (from 2,390 yen)!

For the hot pot, you can choose one from "Hakata Motsunabe," "Hakata Mizutaki," or "Hakata Motsunabe (+220 yen)," and for the side dish, you can choose one from "Today's Sashimi (three kinds)," "Sesame Mackerel (+220 yen)," "Mackerel Sashimi (+220 yen)," "Salmon Sashimi (+220 yen)," "Sea Bream Sashimi," "Yaki-yaki Silver Cod with Miso (+220 yen)," "Tempura Assortment (4 kinds)," or "Fried Itoshima Chicken Mizutaki Broth (3 pieces)."

Sushi Kappo Kaji is run by Hakata Kappo Kaji, a long-established restaurant specializing in puffer fish and live fish dishes located in Nakasu, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City.

The owner personally purchases seafood from Nagahama Market every morning, and you can enjoy sushi and other dishes made with it.

In addition to the counter, there are also table seats.

Of course, the sushi is great, but the recommended dish is the "Squid and Hakata Fugu Set" (3,100 yen) shown in the photo.

FUKUOKA CRAFT BREWING with COMATSU

FUKUOKA CRAFT BREWING with COMATSU is a new type of shop and bar produced by COMATSU, which operates many popular stores in Fukuoka.

You can enjoy about 30 types of freshly brewed original beer, produced at our own factory in Okagaki-machi, Onga-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture, in a corner bar style.

"Draft craft beer" is 400 yen for small size, 700 yen for medium size, and 1,000 yen for large size. From the left in the photo, "Komatsu Lager", "Hazy IPA", and "Pale Ale".

You can buy it at the shop next door and take it out, so it's great as a souvenir. The stylish can packaging is also worth checking out.

Hakata Ramen Specialty Store Kochan Ramen

Next to "HUB" is "Hakata Ramen Specialty Shop Kochan Ramen," produced by "Hakata Ikkosha," a popular Hakata ramen shop serving the original foamy ramen.

There are counter seats and table seats, and orders are taken via touch panel.

The photo shows the "Back Fat Flavored Egg Ramen" (1,100 yen) topped with "3 slices of pork" (300 yen), "Green Onion" (150 yen), and "3 sheets of seaweed" (150 yen)!

The sweet pork bone soup is topped off with back fat, which adds richness and depth to the soup, making it irresistible. The thin noodles also have a wheat flavor. It's so delicious I want to eat it every day!

Be sure to try the "Special Tamago Kake Gohan" (330 yen), which is only available at this store! The rice is topped with chopped pork, green onions, and eggs, and is topped with "Salt Soy Sauce" made by Fukuoka soy sauce brewer "Yamataka Soy Sauce." It has a dashi-like flavor and is very delicious.

It opens at 8am, so you can enjoy tonkotsu ramen for breakfast! You can also purchase souvenir items such as fresh ramen, spicy ramen, mustard greens, and stir-fried takana.
