Thick pork cutlet rice bowl ♡ Report on the new menu at the popular Kokura specialty "Dokidoki Udon" restaurant (Kitakyushu City)
Hello. This is Chihi Log, a casual website that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.
This time, we will introduce a new dish from a popular udon restaurant in Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City.
"Niku Udon Inoue Kutami Branch" (Kutami Higashi, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City), a popular restaurant where you can enjoy Kokura's specialty "Niku Udon" and a wide variety of original menu items
"Niku Udon Inoue Kusami Branch" is located in Kusami Higashi, Kokura Minami Ward, Kitakyushu City. This popular restaurant offers a wide variety of original udon dishes, including the Kokura specialty "Dokidoki Udon" with large chunks of meat. They have four branches in Fukuoka Prefecture.
There is also a spacious free parking lot, so it is convenient for traveling by car.
It's a self-service system, so you can freely choose your side dishes, such as tempura, and order what you like.
When I visited on a Sunday afternoon, the lunchtime tempura was almost sold out!
Customers kept coming in until the last order time at 2:30 p.m.
The restaurant offers not only table seating, but also counter seats and raised seating.
Condiments and cold water are also self-service. You can also take as much tempura flakes, green chili peppers, ginger, etc. as you like.
The pickled radish that is an essential part of "Dokidoki Udon" is also available for all-you-can-eat.
We enjoyed a variety of delicious dishes, including the newly introduced Katsu Toji Rice Bowl!
Introducing the new menu "Katsutojidon" and other recommended dishes
Pork cutlet rice bowl
The menu I'm looking forward to this time is the new "Katsutojidon" (regular 790 yen, large 900 yen). For an additional 160 yen, you can add a mini udon.
The cutlet is deep fried in high-temperature oil until crispy and thick!
When it comes to katsutoji donburi, many of them pack a punch, but the katsutoji donburi at "Niku Udon Inoue" has a very mild flavor with a strong dashi stock.
The sweetness of the meat and the mellowness of the egg really stood out and it was delicious!
Oita specialty: Chicken tempura rice bowl
I also ordered the "Oita Specialty Chicken Tempura Bowl" (regular 700 yen, large 810 yen), which caught my eye. You can also add a mini udon for an additional 160 yen.
It was served with a generous serving of soft and fluffy chicken tempura! The egg that enveloped the chicken tempura also had a great flavor, making it a dish with a mild taste.
Mini meat udon
We mentioned earlier that you can add "mini udon" to your bowl of rice, but if you'd like to try "meat udon" even if it's on a smaller size, check this out too!
The "Mini Niku Udon" (420 yen) contains meat and ginger, making it an easy way to enjoy the flavor of Inoue Niku Udon.
White Meat Udon
"Dokidoki Udon" has a heavy image in mind, but they also have a lighter dish on the menu called "White Meat Udon" (830 yen).
The "Shiro Niku Niku Udon" (1,100 yen) has twice the amount of meat, making it surprisingly voluminous!
The difference is in the "dashi" (broth). The clear, amber-colored dashi is made with bonito and seven other carefully selected ingredients. It's full of flavor and super delicious!
This savory flavor further enhanced the deliciousness of the Wagyu beef tendon and cheek meat that had been simmered for a long time.
In fact, you can order extra noodles (150 yen each) for regular-sized udon and soba! Extra noodles for udon and soba are quite rare, aren't they?
This time I gave up because I had already eaten the rice bowl, but next time I'd like to try the extra noodles♪
Self-serve toppings make for a hearty meal
This time, I chose the toppings "Gobo Tempura", "Shrimp Tempura" and "Isobe Fried" (180 yen each). They were crispy and delicious♪ You can serve them on top of the udon or eat them as they are.
