[Yanagawa Lunch] Wagyu beef steak with extra thick and tender char siu! An exquisite ramen made by a butcher

Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.

This time we will introduce a butcher shop that has won the popular event "Makanai Meal Grand Prix" (hosted by the Chikugo Seven Countries Makanai Meal Grand Prix Executive Committee, held every autumn), where staff meals from restaurants in the Chikugo region come together multiple times.

The most famous dish is "curry," but from 2023, "ramen" will be available, limited to 10 bowls per day, which is also said to be delicious. I would like to go there right away.

A butcher shop with a popular lunch menu, "Seiryu Shokusan" (Yanagawa City), that everyone in Yanagawa knows!

We arrived at Seiryu Shokusan, located in Okinohata-cho, Yanagawa City.

Although it is a butcher shop, the lunch served here is extremely popular and attracts many visitors from inside and outside the prefecture.

There is a parking lot next to the store, and a second and third parking lot a short distance away.

The restaurant is quite spacious, with a total of about 50 seats. There are counter seats, table seats, and tatami rooms. It is easy to use even with children, so it was crowded with many families even on weekdays.

Look at this.

A trophy of having won the "Makanai Meal Grand Prix" three times and come second once.

It is a popular restaurant that has been featured in the media, including on television, over 100 times.

Great value lunch menu

Enjoy eat-in lunch from 11:30am to 2:30pm.

The menu includes dishes unique to a butcher shop, such as the curry that won first place in the "Staff Meal Grand Prix," as well as steak rice bowls.

What's surprising, though, is the price.

Most of the menu items are just over 1,000 yen including tax. As the name suggests, the curry topped with Wagyu beef steak, "Golden Curry with Wagyu Beef Steak," is 1,100 yen, and the most expensive menu item, "Beef Tongue Diced Steak and Beef Stew (limited to 10 meals per day)," is 1,210 yen.

This is "Golden Curry with Wagyu Beef Croquette" (1,078 yen).

The curry here is really amazing.

There's so much meat in it that it's almost too much.

Butcher's curry is the best after all.

The "Wagyu Beef Croquette" on top is also delicious. It can also be ordered separately (275 yen each).

This was my first time trying it, and I can see why people would want to take it out and enjoy it at home.

Takeaway "Hakata Wagyu Golden Curry" (1,080 yen),

Be sure to check out the "Yanagawa Miton Kakuni" (950 yen) and "Roast Chicken" (518 yen) that are also available. Takeaway items and meat can be purchased from 11:00 to 18:00.

Returning to the topic of lunch, when you order curry or rice bowls, you get a "salad" that comes with it. This is also fun.

You can add the three types of dressings that are placed on the table. We recommend you try the original seasoning "Norine Vinegar"!

Of course, you can eat this alone, but the real highlight is yet to come.

It goes really well with our "Homemade Onion Dressing". Just add a little bit and mix it together. You'll have a great salad.

Limited to 10 bowls per day! Ramen made by a butcher

And the favorite this time is the "Seared Hakata Wagyu Steak Char Siu Ramen" (1,320 yen).

The menu describes it as the "ultimate Wagyu beef stock" that the butcher put his all into creating. I wonder what it tastes like.

It takes a lot of work to make, so they only make 10 cups a day.

As it is sold out once it is gone, I visited the store when it opened.

This is what arrived about 10 minutes after I ordered. First of all, take a look at this visual.

What is this? It's not the char siu I know. Isn't it too thick?

Even though it's so thick, it's actually quite soft and gooey, and will crumble if you don't pick it up carefully with chopsticks.

It uses the rare Wagyu beef part "Engawa" and has a crunchy texture. When you put it in your mouth, the flavor just keeps on overflowing. It's so delicious.

By the way, it was a miracle that I was able to take the photo below. It crumbled right away.

Even though the pork is simmered until it's so tender, you can still really taste the roasted aroma.

It was so delicious that I wanted to eat only this meat forever. You'd expect from a meat professional! The taste and texture were one of a kind.

By the way, is Wagyu beef stock really that clear?

The gentle saltiness seeps into your body, followed by the aroma of stewed Wagyu beef tail, makes it feel quite elegant.

The noodles are "wagyu thin noodles." In my personal opinion, they feel more like konjac noodles than regular Chinese noodles. They have a smooth texture.

This elegant seaweed is served in a champagne glass. Apparently it's sourced directly from fishermen.

When you've eaten about half the noodles, you can sprinkle it on top or wrap it up and eat it, but I recommend leaving one piece as is. I'll explain why later.

It's also good to dissolve it in soup.

Ramen usually contains flavored seaweed, but this is "seaweed to enjoy the aroma." The combination of the Wagyu beef stock and the subtle scent of the sea makes it a flavor that will have you coming back for more.

At this point, top it off with condiments (garlic, spicy miso, and wasabi).

My personal recommendation is the spicy miso. Garlic doesn't have a strong smell, but it does have a strong spiciness, so it's best to add it to the last bite to keep the aroma of the wagyu beef from disappearing.

You can customize the soup to your liking by choosing which toppings to add and how much of each.

You can get a free bowl of white rice with wasabi on top. Sprinkle some of the seaweed you saved earlier on top, and slowly pour the soup you made yourself over it.

Wow! That's so good! The perfect final dish for the meal is now complete.

I heard that "Kiyoyanagi Shokusan" doesn't offer many other menu items because their "Golden Curry" is so popular, but I would definitely recommend you try this "Seared Hakata Wagyu Steak and Char Siu Ramen."

Highly recommended! (Text by Yorimichi)
