Buy popular items all at once! A popular multi-purpose cafe with six coffee and sweets brands all in one place (Shimonoseki City)
I live with my three rescued cats and my flying wife, and I'm Dan!, who introduces popular spots in the Fukuoka area.
This time, I visited a very popular complex cafe that opened in November 2022 in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, next to Fukuoka.
ALLEY, a select sweets shop that brings together popular sweets brands on social media (Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture)
It is about 15 minutes by car after leaving the Shimonoseki toll gate of the Kanmon Tunnel.
A large, eye-catching sign marks the entrance to ALLEY, giving the restaurant an appearance that makes you feel like you're in a resort area.
Unfortunately the weather was bad on this day, but if it had been sunny the pale white-toned buildings would have stood out beautifully against the blue sky.
"ALLEY" is produced by "HAGAN ORGANIC COFFEE" with the concept of "Bringing something good to your everyday life." This coffee brand is also actively developing and selling sweets that go well with coffee.
In addition, five other sweets brands that are popular in Tokyo, Aichi, Fukuoka, etc. are gathered together, making a total of six stores.
■HAGAN ORGANIC COFFEE (Tokyo): Organic coffee grown naturally without the use of pesticides
■TUTTO (Tokyo): A vegan gelato made without milk, eggs or refined sugar by the popular Fukuoka gelato brand ViTO. They also sell BELATO, a "drinkable gelato" made with seasonal fruits.
■Daiwa (Aichi, etc.): A greengrocer in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, makes "serious" fruit sandwiches. They also sell crepes and seasonal shaved ice.
■HOC (Fukuoka): Gluten-free, refined sugar-free cheesecake
■SO TARTE (Tokyo): Joined ALLEY in December 2023. Vegan tarts made with carefully selected fruits and ingredients.
L'atelier COCCO (Tokyo): Supervised from December 2023. Baked goods with an emphasis on organic ingredients
Just like a resort! Enjoy exquisite sweets in an open space
With high ceilings, spaciousness and plenty of light coming in through the large windows, the restaurant has an open, resort-like atmosphere.
The counter stretches out in a straight line, with sweets and coffee from each shop lined up, but you can pay at a single stop. This is truly a "sweets select shop," where you can order and pay for products from different brands at the same time.
Once you've paid, you're given a buzzer and can go and collect your order when it's ready.
You can eat the products you purchase in the store at the seats on the first and second floors. Of course, you can also take them out.
The eat-in space on the second floor is spacious.
There is also art in the bathrooms.
Beautiful to look at! Enjoy the vegan tarts from "SO TARTE"
The first thing that captured my heart were the fruit-filled tarts from SO TARTE, a popular shop with locations in Yoyogi-Uehara and Omotesando, Tokyo.
It's gluten-free and vegan, and contains no dairy, eggs, or sugar. It uses carefully selected seasonal fruits, so you can enjoy it every season.
On this day, flavors available included "Mandarin Orange" (1,080 yen), "Pineapple" (1,080 yen), "Kiwi" (1,080 yen), "Cheese and Nuts" (1,350 yen), and "Strawberry" (1,400 yen).
This time I chose the popular "Mix" (1,250 yen).
Well, beautiful.
Not only does it look good, but it's also moist with the sweetness of the fruit, and when combined with the crunchy, not too sweet tart, it's delicious!
It was so sweet that it was hard to believe it didn't contain any sugar or dairy products. It was very satisfying.
The strawberries are a variety called "Kaorino" that originates from Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The tart was paired with a decaf coffee (600 yen) from "HAGAN ORGANIC COFFEE."
Since it is caffeine-free, the bitterness is mild and the taste is easy to drink.
"HAGAN ORGANIC COFFEE" sells organic coffee in beans and drip bags. "Coffee of the Day" is available from 500 yen.
Don't miss the baked goods made with carefully selected ingredients and fruit sandwiches!
Starting in December 2023, ALLEY will begin selling original baked goods supervised by L'atelier COCCO, a bakery in Shirokane, Tokyo.
We are committed to using ingredients from producers we know personally, and we use 100% domestically produced wheat.
They have a wide variety of cookies, three kinds of scones, and two kinds of financiers. They are perfect as souvenirs.
This is "Honki no Fruit Sandwich" from "Daiwa Supermarket" in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, which is said to have started the fruit sandwich boom. This is the first store to open in the Chugoku region.
You'll be overwhelmed by the volume of fruit!
There were many varieties available, including "Banana" (450 yen), "Apple Cinnamon" (550 yen), "Tangerine" (750 yen), and "Amaou" (900 yen).
In addition to fruit sandwiches, Daiwa also sells crepes such as the Butter Sugar crepe (600 yen), which is also very popular.
Limited time offer! "STRAWBERRY FAIR" is also attracting attention
The "STRAWBERRY FAIR" will be held until early May 2024. Each sweets brand will be serving up their very own strawberry desserts.
This is the "Strawberry Tiramisu" (980 yen), which is available in limited quantities per day.
This drink is made with rich homemade tiramisu cream and espresso made with medium roasted beans, giving it a bitter, adult taste. It also contains a generous three strawberries!
The cute-looking "ALLEY" original "Strawberry Butter Sugar Crepe" (1,680 yen) is also popular.
This is a soft and chewy pastry that is soaked in butter, topped with gently sweet cane sugar and filled with homemade strawberry jam.
There is also "Tea Strawberry Butter Sugar" (1,680 yen), which has tea in the dough, so it looks like it would be fun to compare the different flavors.
There are many other items available, so please check them out in store.
It's a convenient location for stopping by when visiting Yamaguchi Prefecture, including Tsunoshima and Karato Market.
Why not take a break on your weekend drive and enjoy some of these popular sweets? (Text by Dan!)
