Kyushu's first permanent store! "Blue Bottle Coffee Fukuoka Tenjin Cafe" opens on February 9th (Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)

Blue Bottle Coffee Fukuoka Tenjin Cafe will be opening on the first floor of the Kego Shrine Office Building. Located in the center of Tenjin, it is easily accessible from anywhere, including the Nishitetsu train/bus, the subway Kuko Line, and the Nanakuma Line.

There are two entrances, one on the Kokutai Road side and one on the Kego Shrine side, so you can enter from either (the order counter is right after you enter from the entrance on the Kokutai Road side).

Blue Bottle Coffee is a specialty coffee brand that was founded in California, USA in 2002 and has over 100 stores around the world. It is a popular store that is known to all coffee lovers.

In the past, the Blue Bottle Coffee truck has come to Fukuoka and pop-up shops have appeared there, but this is Kyushu's first permanent store!

When it was only open for a limited time, there were queues every day, so I think not only I but all the people of Fukuoka Prefecture have been waiting for this permanent store♡

The most seats of any store in Japan! A spacious store where you can relax

The interior of the store, which combines a variety of wood materials with a design that "feels like a cross between tradition and modernity," is meant to connect the lively main street with the tranquil grounds of Kego Shrine.

With 73 seats inside and 18 seats outdoors, for a total of 91 seats, this spacious restaurant boasts the largest total number of seats of any restaurant in Japan.

There are a variety of seating options available, including high tables for standing, two-seater tables, tables that can seat large groups, and bench seats.

Depending on the seat you choose, and as the restaurant is open from 8am to 8pm, you can enjoy a variety of atmospheres depending on the time of day.

Another highlight is the original artwork created by Fukuoka-born illustrator KYNE in "Blue Bottle colors," which will be on display for a limited time until the end of June 2024.

Blue Bottle Coffee is all about drip coffee, carefully brewed one cup at a time!

Although there is a wide variety on the menu, one thing that is a must-have at Blue Bottle Coffee is their drip coffee.

There are three types of coffee: "Blend" (from 594 yen), "Single Origin" (712 yen), and "Decaf" (594 yen), and you can change them to "Au Lait" for an additional 66 yen. After receiving your order, the coffee beans are ground and carefully brewed one cup at a time.

You'll have a hard time choosing! 6 types of "espresso drinks"

The espresso drink lineup consists of six types: Espresso (577 yen), Americano (hot/iced) (577 yen), Macchiato (588 yen), Gibraltar (611 yen), Cappuccino (634 yen), and Cafe Latte (hot/iced) (657 yen).

You can choose from "blend" or "decaf", or "single origin" for an additional 121 yen. You can also change to "oat milk" for free.

This is a hot "Cafe Latte" (657 yen). It has plenty of milk and a gentle taste. The cute latte art is also nice ♡

This is the drink "Gibraltar" (611 yen) served in a Gibraltar glass.

This drink is made with espresso and steamed milk, and although it contains less milk than a cafe latte or cappuccino, it still allows you to fully enjoy the sweetness of the milk.

The reason for this is that it is generally served at a temperature that brings out the sweetness of milk most easily, so it is purposely made at a lower temperature than other drinks.

Although you can taste the sweetness of the milk, the amount of milk is small, so you can still get a strong aroma and flavor of espresso! It has a rich flavor, almost like eating milk chocolate.

A wide variety of drinks on the menu, including non-coffee options!

The drink menu also includes the iced coffee "Cold Brew" (634 yen), Blue Bottle Coffee's original milk coffee "NOLA" (634 to 750 yen), as well as a variety of "seasonal specials," "non-coffee," "tea," and "kids' drinks."

"Coffee Cherry Fizz" is a drink made by drying and boiling "coffee cherries," the "fruit" part that is usually discarded when taking out the "seeds" that become coffee beans, in hot water, then adding lemon and soda. The sweet and sour taste of the coffee cherries and the tartness of the lemon were delicious.

You can choose to have your "Lemonade" hot or iced, so it's great to enjoy in any season! The iced version can also be mixed with soda.

A full menu of food and sweets!

The food and sweets menu consists of categories such as "brunch plates," "toast," "desserts," "granola," and "pastries," with a rich lineup of several types of each!

This is the "Liège Waffle" (641 yen) from the "Pastries" section. This is an iconic menu item that has been extremely popular since Blue Bottle Coffee first opened.

It uses a generous amount of vanilla beans, giving it a gentle sweetness. It has a great crispy texture and is very delicious! It's one of my favorite dishes and I've ordered it many times.

This is the "Avocado" toast menu item (990 yen).

A generous amount of avocado, lightly coated with olive oil, served on toasted bread! Accented with chilli flakes and sesame seeds, it was addictively delicious ♡

Other options for "toast" include "Poached Egg" (1,081 yen), "Tomato & Ricotta Cheese" (990 yen), "Cinnamon" (715 yen), and "Ricotta Cheese & Seasonal Jam" (715 yen), for a total of five varieties.

Although this menu item is also available at other stores, Fukuoka Tenjin Cafe is collaborating with a local bakery in order to respect local flavors.

The "Poached Egg" is made using bread from "Pan Stock," which has stores in Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City and Hakozaki, Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City, while the other four types use bread from "Okuzoe Bakery" in Itoshima City.

Furthermore, bread from Pan Stock is not only used in the "Poached Eggs", but also in the "Brunch Plate" which comes with three types of dishes: "Complete" (1,870 yen), "Vegetable" (1,650 yen), and "Salad" (1,212 yen)!

The photo shows a plate called "Complete" which includes bread stock "White Stock", leaf salad, tomato, boiled egg, bacon, grilled vegetables, hummus and soy cream sauce.

The cups and plates on which the drinks and food are served are from Kagoshima-based pottery studio ONE KILN. Three original cups and one saucer, a collaboration between ONE KILN and Blue Bottle Coffee, are available for purchase in store. They will be available for pre-sale at Fukuoka Tenjin Cafe!
