A luxurious lunch buffet at a resort hotel just 15 minutes by car from Hakata Station (Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.
AGORA Fukuoka Hilltop Hotel & Spa, a hotel in Fukuoka City with a long history founded in 1967, will be rebranded and reopened as HILLTOP RESORT FUKUOKA on November 1, 2023.
This time, we will introduce the charms of "HILLTOP RESORT FUKUOKA," focusing on its newly reborn spots!
"AGORA Fukuoka Hilltop Hotel & Spa" has been reborn! "HILLTOP RESORT FUKUOKA" is a hotel where you can enjoy an "urban resort stay" (Terukuni, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
"HILLTOP RESORT FUKUOKA" is located in Terukuni, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. Although it is located about 15 minutes by car from JR Hakata Station, it is located on top of a hill and away from residential areas, so you can spend a quiet and quality time here.
The hotel's concept is "Excitement & Tranquility." You can enjoy an "urban resort stay in Fukuoka" while experiencing the "motion" of Fukuoka's bustle and fun, and the "stillness" of the high-quality comfort that the hotel provides.
New guest rooms with a Japanese feel: "New Knows Old"
The newly refurbished guest rooms are also a highlight.
This is the "New Knows Old" guest room (from 22,500 yen per person), a beautiful blend of Japanese and Western styles.
A modern Japanese space with a Western feel throughout. It is spacious and spacious.
There are three beds in total, one of which is located in a semi-private space (up to four people can be accommodated by adding an extra bed).
On the table are Yame tea and Gyokuro tea, as well as konpeito candy from Okuyame Chanohado. Coated with matcha and hojicha tea, the konpeito candy has an adult taste that combines sweetness and bitterness.
Next to it were several board games. It's easy to get carried away and spend your free time on your smartphone, but this was a wonderful thoughtful touch to encourage communication in other ways.
You can enjoy a panoramic view of Fukuoka city from the window, so you can spend some relaxing private time sipping tea.
You can also enjoy the pleasant breeze on the wooden deck outside.
Be sure to check out Area F, the guest room floor on the top floor of the main building.
Also noteworthy is the guest room floor "Area F," which was renovated in 2020. Located on the sixth floor, the top floor of the main building, there are eight rooms, including three suites.
This "Area F Suite" is an unusual room (capacity 2 people) with the bathroom located in the center of the room so that you can enjoy the view from the bath. There is also a veranda space where you can relax while looking at the view.
It is a stylish and fashionable space that beautifully combines Japanese and Western styles.
This is the "Area F Japanese Suite," which can accommodate up to five people. It seems to be very popular with foreign guests as well.
The Japanese-style space is attractive, with Ryukyu tatami mats laid out. The bright colors create an elegant atmosphere.
The bathroom has a window that offers a dynamic view, so you can soothe your fatigue in the jet bath while gazing at the night view.
The hair dryer used is the "Repronizer 4D Plus." It was a room that showed attention to detail!
The salad buffet is super extravagant! Enjoy an elegant meal at "Hilltop Dining"
In conjunction with the hotel's rebranding and reopening, a new restaurant called "HILLTOP DINING" was opened on the 5th floor. In a chic and modern space, you can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine for both lunch and dinner. It is also open to the public, not just hotel guests.
This time, we visited for lunch from 11:30 to 15:00 (last order 14:30) (3,900 yen for adults, 2,000 yen for elementary school students, 1,500 yen for ages 3 to 5, free for children under 2).
Choose one main dish from the following options: "Today's Pasta," "Today's Pan-Fried Fish," "Charcoal-Grilled Itoshima Pork," "Charcoal-Grilled Hakata Chicken," etc. In addition, the semi-buffet style includes a salad buffet, as well as curries, stews, bread, desserts, and herbal teas.
The salad buffet features over 20 types of fresh vegetables, mainly from Kyushu.
The lineup was extensive, including pimenta malagueta (a pinky-sized chili pepper) that I rarely see at a buffet, grilled yam, and sautéed king oyster mushrooms.
Not only can you enjoy the taste of the vegetables as they are, but there is also a wide selection of condiments and dressings available so you can customize it to your liking.
All the desserts are original creations by the chef, and are all breathtakingly beautiful! Being able to eat as many of them as you like is just too good to be true.
This time, I chose charcoal-grilled Itoshima pork as my main dish.
The tender meat has a refined flavor, with the aroma of charcoal filling your mouth. You can enjoy it with lemon, rock salt, or onion sauce to your liking. We also recommend the "lemon salt" version.
*There is a "smart casual" dress code, so please refrain from wearing beach sandals, and men should refrain from wearing shorts or tank tops.
A souvenir shop where you can buy "original craft gin" too!
There is a shop where you can purchase souvenirs next to the front desk.
They sell pottery, Fukuoka sweets, and the tatami slippers that are also used in the guest rooms.
They will also be selling "THE GLAMOROUS GIN" (5,000 yen per bottle), which was created to commemorate the rebranding and reopening. This is an original product created in collaboration with Saga City's "Kusunohana Distillery," which produces a series of distinctive craft gins. It is a craft gin with a complex and elegant flavor, with a flowery and gorgeous aroma and a slightly sweet nuance.
It's also recommended as a souvenir ♪
This urban resort stay is something we would like to recommend to those who are visiting from outside Fukuoka City or overseas, as well as to those who live in Fukuoka City. It is also recommended for anniversaries and as a reward. Please come and visit us. (Text by Hakata Aya.)
