If you can make a reservation, you're in luck! A colorful and exquisite salad plate that appears irregularly only a few times a month (Chikushino City)
Hello. I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves delicious food.
This time, we will introduce a restaurant that is popular for its irregular menu items.
HALU STORE, a cafe, miscellaneous goods and clothing store in a residential area (Chikushino City)
HALU STORE is a cafe, miscellaneous goods and clothing store located in Hara, Chikushino. There is also a parking lot exclusively for the store.
The store's name, "HALU STORE," is a reference to the place name "Haru" (field), and reflects the desire to establish the store as a local business.
The owner, who has experience in clothing and graphic design, opened the store with the desire to plan, purchase, and sell clothing and miscellaneous goods.
The little cafe inside the store is adorable!
The main focus of the store is clothing and miscellaneous goods, but it also has a cafe space to help make the store more widely known.
There are six counter seats and one table that seats six.
The menu includes "Hot Coffee" (550 yen, three types), "Hot Dog" (550 yen), and "Whimsical Cake" (from 600 yen).
The hot dogs are made with sausages made in Mise and come in a choice of soy sauce or lemon and basil flavor.
Appears irregularly! "Feast Salad" available by reservation only
The most popular item on the cafe menu is the "Chikushi Vegetable Feast Salad," which requires a reservation! It's always a battle to get it, but I happened to see the post at the right time and was able to make a reservation.
The price varies depending on the contents, but at the time of my visit it was 2,000 yen including a drink. This is an irregular menu and can be eaten 0 to 5 times a month depending on the harvest situation of the vegetables (the latest information can be found on the shop's Instagram).
This salad is made up of raw or grilled vegetables, allowing you to enjoy the simple flavor of the ingredients. It contains around 30 kinds of fresh vegetables picked that morning.
The contents change from time to time, but on this day, there was a huge selection, including purple radish, red radish, turnip, red turnip, sweet potato, broccoli, peppers, beets, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, sunny lettuce, five kinds of baby leaves, kale, celery, parsley, dill, garlic, shishito peppers, and more! There were also edible flowers on the plate, such as asparagus rape blossoms and violas.
Among them are some less familiar vegetables such as "chayote" and "Swiss chard", which is exciting.
This is "Guru Guru Beets"! Beets are often thought of as a red vegetable, but this one has a cute swirly look to it.
On this day, we were able to compare five different kinds of carrots. These are the five different colors of carrots that were included!
It also contains fruit. This is dragon fruit, which has a fun, crunchy texture with its seeds. I rarely have a chance to eat it, so I was happy.
This is "jabuticaba," a common fruit in Brazilian markets.
It's a rare fruit that grows directly on the trunk of a tree, with white flesh and a sweet and sour taste that's delicious.
There was also a large sausage inside the generous serving of vegetables. It was crisp and very juicy! Apparently it was made using the same ingredients as in hot dogs.
It also comes with bread and boiled eggs, so it's filling and satisfying!
Salt and olive oil are served on separate plates, but the vegetables themselves are so delicious that they don't even need to be added.
Each one has its own unique texture, sweetness, and it was a lot of fun trying them and comparing them.
One of the fun things about this menu is that it changes every month. The last time I visited, the plate featured a lot of asparagus, tomatoes, and beans.
All the vegetables are from the local "Yahiro Farm," so it's worth noting that they are all locally produced. You can also purchase vegetables at the store.
please check it!
You can also enjoy special drinks! We recommend the coffee.
Drinks include coffee, chai, and juices, but my recommendation is the "hot coffee" which you can choose from three types (550 yen each)!
This time, I tried the "HALU Blend," a coffee made specially for the HALU STORE by "REC COFFEE," a shop located in Fukuoka City. It has a good balance of sourness and bitterness, and is fruity and gorgeous. It was very delicious.
The other is "Umaya Blend," a standard blend from Tokyo coffee shop "Coffinowa," which is a deep roast with a rich flavor and no bitter aftertaste. "Kimagure" is a limited-edition coffee that the owner stocks depending on his mood at the time.
In addition to hot coffee, they also offer cold drinks such as "iced coffee," as well as "honey lemon soda" and "refreshing plum soda" (600 yen each) made with homemade syrup.
"HALU STORE" was opened with the idea of "It will be a fun place where you can find all kinds of things." The clothes, which he was involved in planning, were initially planned to be sold as 25 pieces, but they proved so popular that 40 pieces were reserved.
It's a favorite shop where you can check out fashionable clothes and miscellaneous goods and enjoy the cafe. Why don't you go and check it out? (Text by ayu.latte)
