Popular at the stylish "Korean-style cafe" near Moji Station! Delicious Korean street food toast (Kitakyushu City)
Hello. I'm Hagane, a mother of four growing children.
To unwind, he often gets sucked into Korean dramas, and he also loves Korean culture.
This time, we will introduce you to a stylish cafe where you can get a taste of Korea while in Kitakyushu.
Cafe SANARE 100-0013, a Korean-style cafe near JR Moji Station (Yanagimachi, Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City)
Cafe SANARE 100-0013 opened on May 9, 2023 in the Yanagimachi Shopping Street in front of JR Moji Station, Yanagimachi, Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City.
The store's name "SANARE" means "foot of the mountain" in Korean. It was named after the fact that the store is located at the foot of Mt. Tonokami. "100-0013" is the postal code for an area lined with cafes at the foot of Mt. Bukhan in Seoul, South Korea.
There is no door at the entrance, so it has an open atmosphere. There are seats in front of the store so that you can bring your pets.
The stylish interior, based on a white theme, is accented with neon-colored lights and mustard-colored chairs.
There were also miscellaneous goods that the owner had purchased in Korea, as well as items on consignment sale.
Take a trip to Korea with traditional Korean tea and sweets!
At this cafe, you can enjoy "Korean Traditional Tea" (650 yen each, with fried snacks). Unlike typical Japanese teas that use tea leaves, there are many teas that do not use tea leaves, such as those made from nuts, fruits, and herbal medicines used in Chinese medicine.
When I visited, it came with a traditional Korean snack called "yakgwa," made from flour mixed with cinnamon and other ingredients and deep-fried.
The menu has changed, and now it comes with a traditional sweet called "Yuga," shown in the back of the photo below. It is made by deep-frying fermented glutinous rice and sweetening it with syrup.
The traditional Korean tea I enjoyed was "Honey Ginger," which is also familiar in Japan.
The tea was delicious, with a spicy kick of ginger and the sweetness of honey.
Other flavors available include "Yuzu," "Honey Jujube," and "Honey Karin."
Great for eating on the go: Korean food stall toast and drinks
Don't miss the Korean street food toast, which is limited to 50 servings per day! There are three varieties: "Egg Bacon" (550 yen), "Double Bacon Cheese" (650 yen), and "Mexican Avocado" (650 yen).
I ordered the "Egg Bacon." The fluffy bread was toasted just right, and the combination of the melted cheese and eggs was outstanding! It is also available for takeout, and is packaged in a special box, making it easy to eat.
I also ordered the cute two-layered "Mint Latte" (650 yen). When I mixed it and drank it, the refreshing mint flavor spread throughout my mouth.
No matter where you look inside the store you can feel the Korean vibe, so it's fun to take photos!
The owner of "Cafe SANARE 100-0013" was originally a clinical psychologist, and has been active in activities such as setting up a free school for children who have difficulty finding a place in school. With the hope of creating a place where everyone can interact with each other regardless of age, he still holds a wide variety of events, markets, and workshops at the cafe.
It's one to keep an eye on, as they plan to continue building connections with people in the future. Please stop by and take a look. (Text by Hagaga Tomomi)
