[A noteworthy store makes its debut in Hakata] Lunch and souvenirs available! "The dumplings you bake yourself are exquisite" A stylish new Japanese cafe (Fukuoka City)
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.
On Saturday, December 9, 2023, a popular Kitakyushu store will open in the Hakata Station area for the first time! We visited the new store "Kasho Kikutaro," which is known for its exquisite Japanese sweets and lunches.
The popular and stylish Japanese cafe "Kasho Kikutaro Hakata" (Hakata Station East, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City) has opened in the Miyako Hotel, right next to the Chikushi Exit of JR Hakata Station!
The Kasho Kikutaro Hakata store is located on the first floor of the Miyako Hotel Hakata, located east of Hakata Station in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City.
It is conveniently located just outside the Chikushi exit of JR Hakata Station, the gateway to Kyushu, and is easily accessible.
"Kasho Kikutaro" is a Japanese confectionery shop based in Kitakyushu, with its flagship store in Kokura Minami Ward, as well as stores in AMU Plaza Kokura and AMU Plaza Oita. This time, it will be the long-awaited opening in the Hakata area.
Upon entering the shop, you will see a counter lined with Japanese sweets.
You can purchase items such as ohagi and dango from just one piece.
They also have individually wrapped sweets and boxed gifts, making them a great place to choose souvenirs.
The packaging with the "Kikutaro" logo is also very cute!
In the refrigerated display case, they were selling "Nama Dorayaki" (fresh dorayaki). It is a fluffy dorayaki with fresh cream and fruit sandwiched between it.
They also sell it in the deli section (500 yen per cup). It's perfect for lunch, or as an extra side dish for dinner.
There is also a cafe where you can enjoy Japanese sweets and salad lunches.
If you go to the back left of the store, you will find an eat-in space where you can enjoy sweets as well as salad lunches.
There was also a table in front that was easy for one person to use. There was also an electrical outlet at your feet.
At all seats, ordering is done via QR code on the table.
Recommended! Enjoy your own rice dumplings on a charcoal grill!
This time I ordered the "Three kinds of skewered dumplings and roasted green tea set" (860 yen). *The drink in the photo is a separate order. *The cafe menu is available from 11:30.
It's so much fun to grill the three dumplings on the charcoal grill to your liking while eating them!
I like it with lots of browning, so I browned it quite a bit.
It cooks quite quickly, so enjoy while keeping an eye on it.
The dumplings are chewy and delicious! The subtle sweetness of the dumplings themselves matches well with the refined sweetness of the bean paste.
There are three types available; tsubuan, matcha bean, and mitarashi, so why not try putting all the different types on one skewer of three dumplings?
A wide variety of flavors! Kasho Kikutaro's specialty "Drinkable Warabimochi"
This is "Drinkable Warabimochi," the signature product of Kasho Kikutaro.
This time I chose the "Matcha Milk Warabi M" (670 yen). I ordered it as a takeaway, but you can also order it as a set with the cafe menu in the eat-in area.
First, take a bite without mixing.
The bitter and sweet taste of the rich matcha is amazing! The smooth texture of the warabimochi is irresistible.
After mixing it, I was able to enjoy the mellow taste of milk and matcha.
Other menu items include milk-based drinks such as "Hojicha Milk Warabi" (Medium 670 yen, Large 730 yen) and "Brown Sugar Milk Warabi" (Medium 670 yen, Large 730 yen), as well as fruit-based drinks such as "Strawberry Tea Warabi" (Medium 690 yen, Large 750 yen) and "Peach Soda Warabi" (Large 750 yen)!
Custom salads are also available at lunchtime!
With the lunch plate, you can create a custom salad by choosing your favorite ingredients from the display case. There are about 20 types of ingredients, so you can customize it depending on your mood that day. *Prices vary depending on what you choose.
All the deli items are made with seasonal vegetables and fruits, brown rice, tofu, beans, herbs, and other ingredients that are good for your body. Even the soups and dressings are homemade.
The stylish packaging makes it a great gift!
This time, I bought the "Boiled Fresh Millet Dumplings (4 pcs)" (320 yen), "Isobe" (180 yen), "Matcha" (190 yen), and "Flower Ohagi (Pumpkin)" (190 yen) as souvenirs!
I love the stylish packaging.
You can choose from "4 sticks" (takeout price 320 yen), "8 sticks" (610 yen), "12 sticks" (900 yen), or "16 sticks" (1,200 yen). They use "takakibi", a type of millet that has been popular in Japan since ancient times, and have a nostalgic taste. Another point is that they are small in size, making them easy to eat.
It's a great shop that not only has a cafe but also has a wide selection of sweets that are perfect as gifts! Please be sure to visit. (Text by Hakata Aya.)
