A luxurious afternoon tea for just 3,000 yen! Available at a popular cafe until Christmas (Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)
Hello. This is Chihi Log, a casual website that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.
This time, we will introduce a sweets course that is only available now at a Japanese cafe in the Kokura area where you can enjoy Japanese tea and Japanese sweets.
Japanese tea and Japanese sweets cafe "Shunkacha-ya Hitotoki" (Bakashi, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)
Shunkachaya Hitotoki is located a 10-minute walk from JR Kokura Station and a 2-minute walk from Kitakyushu Monorail Tanga Station.
This shop offers a wide selection of Japanese sweets and rare, carefully selected Japanese teas.
The first floor is a sales space for Japanese sweets and Japanese tea.
The rows of Japanese sweets, each carefully crafted, are so beautiful that you can't help but stare at them.
Japanese sweets are sold from around 260 yen, making them perfect as souvenirs.
There is also a wide selection of Japanese tea for sale.
There is a cafe space on the second floor with counter and table seating, and the open space offers a view of the Kokura cityscape outside the window.
The interior of the store is decorated with antiques, creating a luxurious space, yet with a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.
"Shunkasasha Hi to Jiki" is run by the owner, Kikko-san. Kikko-san's gentle and warm personality and the attentiveness of his staff make for a comfortable stay.
Sometimes Kikko-san himself will make the tea for you.
Limited time offer until Christmas! Japanese Afternoon Tea
The cafe menu is popular for its seasonal Japanese sweets and Japanese tea courses. This time, we will introduce the Japanese afternoon tea that is only available until Christmas.
The "Christmas Course" (3,000 yen per person) is available only until Monday, December 25, 2023. Although reservations are not required, quantities are limited, so we recommend making a reservation by the day before.
This afternoon tea is inspired by a Japanese-style Christmas tree and is only available now.
The welcome drink is Japanese tea served in a glass
First, a welcome drink: cold green tea in a glass.
I was immediately captivated by this light yet rich drink.
Drinks include a choice of Japanese tea
The "Christmas Course" comes with a choice of Japanese tea.
This time, I chose Chiran's "Kurita Wase," an extremely rare variety that accounts for less than 2% of Japan's tea production.
First, enjoy the aroma, and then you can have the tea brewed for three infusions. You can enjoy the changing flavor of the tea with each infusion.
Since we visited as a group of two, we decided to order another "Rich Matcha Latte."
Dissolving cotton candy in matcha latte gives it a very deep flavor! It was a drink that allowed me to rediscover the charm of Japanese tea.
The main attraction is a "Japanese-style Christmas tree"! A very impressive dessert
When the dessert was brought to the table, I was surprised to see the impressive sweets that were designed to resemble a Japanese Christmas tree. All of the Japanese sweets used are apparently handmade.
The dishes are made from custom-made Bizen ware, so please take the time to take a look at their beauty.
There are lots of sweets with a Christmas theme!
In the back of the photo is "Strawberry Awayuki", and from the left in the foreground, there is "Raw Chocolate Warabimochi Wrapped in Bamboo," "Matcha Floating Island Mont Blanc" modeled after a Christmas tree, and "Yakiimo Yokan" in the shape of a reindeer.
They're all so cute it's a shame to eat them!
The taste is of course authentic, and you can really feel the delicate technique of the Japanese confectioner.
This is in the process of building it myself.
The mochi is stuffed with gyuhi, koshian, and sweet potato paste. The fun of wrapping it yourself and the crispy, chewy texture will fill you with happiness.
The sweetness of the bean paste is exquisite! You'll be amazed at the high quality of each one.
There are also lots of skewered sweets!
There are a variety of skewers available, such as "candy apples," "fruit skewers," "shiratama dango skewers," and "Wagouchi black tea floating island skewers." It's exciting to decide which one to try first!
These cute candy apples with ribbons are crispy, juicy and delicious!
It was very filling and very satisfying.
The afternoon tea was an impressive offering of delicate and carefully crafted sweets. I felt happy from the moment it was served until the very end.
I'm sure it will be a wonderful memory, so please go and try it. (Text by CHIHIRO)
