Stylish no matter where you look! A popular cafe that is open until midnight and serves authentic spice curry (Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City)

Hello! I'm Tomomi Haga, a mother of four growing children.

The most blissful time every morning is when I have coffee after making lunch for my family.

This time, we will introduce you to a cafe in Osari Tonoue, Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City, where you can relax and enjoy home-roasted coffee.

A popular cafe that blends into the local community! "Cafuné" is a stylish space located inside a retro building (Osato Tonoue, Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City)

Cafuné, a cafe that opened in April 2022, is located about a 10-minute walk from JR Moji Station, in a corner of the town where traditional shops still remain.

The shop's landmark is an impressive lantern with a hand on it, which is the shop's logo.

Parking lots 4 and 5 in front of the store are private parking lots, so it is easy to come by car. *If the parking lots are full, there is a paid parking lot nearby.

The interior of the store, which stretches out beyond the door decorated with beautiful stained glass, has a stylish, inorganic space with exposed concrete, with the original ceiling removed.

The natural light coming in through the large windows, the indirect lighting, the wooden shelves, the plants - everything is tastefully designed.

The owner selected the interior and furniture to match the atmosphere of the building.

Inside the store are potted plants, miscellaneous goods made from recycled skateboards, used clothing, books... I thought they were interior items, but they were actually items on consignment. It was impressive to see the wide variety of products adding color to the overall antique atmosphere.

In addition to consignment sales, they also regularly hold pop-up events and workshops.

There is also a corner in the store where take-out items are sold.

In addition to sweets such as "Cafune's Special Chocolate Bar" (1,000 yen) and "Plain Scones" (230 yen), which can be ordered in the store, there is a rich lineup of delicacies such as "Lentil Hoi An Satay Style Curry" (400 yen), and several types of "This Month's Recommended Beans 150g" (1,350 yen *coffee).

They also offer gift packaging, so it would make a great souvenir.

Everywhere you look is picturesque! A space where you can spend a relaxing and luxurious time

The dining area is on the second floor, with rooms on either side of a staircase leading up.

On the left is a large room with two two-seater counter seats in front of a large window, two two-seater table seats, two single-seater table seats, and a long table in the middle with wooden stools around it.

The seats are spaced far apart, making it a luxurious space where you can feel at ease with close friends or by yourself.

On the right side there are two more rooms with different themes.

The first room has a carpet and two round tables, which seems convenient for groups.

There was indirect lighting and potted plants at the back of the room, giving it a warm feeling.

Next to it is a room with three Western-style chairs.

There's a large suitcase instead of a table, and the cute little trinkets scattered here and there are soothing.

By the way, the books on the second floor are personal belongings of the owner and staff who have finished reading them, and you are free to read them as you like.

There is also seating on the rooftop, which is great for those who love the outdoors.

It would be nice to enjoy the owner's proud coffee while feeling the breeze.

For safety reasons, only adults are allowed in. If you would like to use the facility, please ask a staff member.

The appetizing aroma and authentic taste will definitely make you want to buy it again! "Coffee Shop Spice Curry"

The menu at Cafuné consists mainly of light meals such as scones and crepes, as well as home-roasted coffee, alcoholic beverages, and other specialty drinks (one drink is required when dining inside the cafe).

This time I ordered the only food menu item, "Coffee Shop Spice Curry" (1,100 yen).

The owner's love of spices led to this dish. The aroma of spices whets your appetite the moment it is brought to you.

When you take a bite, the spiciness of the spices hits you and it's delicious!

The vegetables and chicken were well cooked and just melted in your mouth.

The achar (pickled vegetables) topping can vary depending on the day.

I couldn't stop eating it all in one go, but the staff told me, "If you add lemon it will taste different," so I tried adding some halfway through. The sourness of the lemon added a refreshing taste. This was also delicious, and I think I'll get addicted to it!

For drinks, I ordered the "This Month's Recommended Beans" coffee (600 yen). On this day, the beans were from Indonesia, and the bitterness was just right, just the way I liked it.

We also ordered the "Vietnamese Pudding" (500 yen). It was a little firm and went down smoothly, and it wasn't too sweet, so it went perfectly with coffee. It was topped with crushed ice and espresso sauce, and had a fresh taste.

When I visited in another month, the "recommended beans of the month" were from Ethiopia and had a refreshing taste. It's nice to be able to enjoy coffee brewed with beans from different regions every time I visit!

Cafuné's other specialty coffee menu items include Blend (500 yen), Caffe Latte (680 yen), and Decaf (600 yen).

Other than coffee, they also offer refreshing drinks with a subtle sweetness and spices such as "Craft Cola" (680 yen), "Yancha" (600 yen), and "Mikan Juice" (500 yen), so even those on a caffeine-free diet can enjoy them.

It's open until midnight, so it's also great for a night cafe! You can enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere than during the day.

Why not enjoy a relaxing time in a cozy space where you can lose track of time, as well as carefully selected coffee?

There is also a sister store called "cafuné stand" in Mojiko that is a standing bar (take-out available), so be sure to check it out as well. (Text by Hagaga Tomomi)
