A hidden gem that we don't really want to tell you about! Thick and tender, exquisite meat is a must-try ♡ Hirao's French restaurant with a great atmosphere (Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)

Hello. This is Chihilog, a casual blog that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.

This time, we will introduce you to a wonderful hidden French restaurant.

If you know, you can brag! Hidden French restaurant "Beer & Wine Dodo" (Hirao, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)

About a 5-minute walk from Nishitetsu Hirao Station, there is a narrow alley off Takamiya Street called "Rojiura Ura Hirao" where several shops are lined up.

This time we would like to introduce you to "Beer & Wine Dodo", located at the back of this alley.

Opened on September 1, 2022, this restaurant is renowned for its carefully crafted creative French cuisine and wine.

The interior of the restaurant is warm and cozy, with a wood-toned interior and counter and table seating.

It's also fun to chat with the owner chef and staff at the counter.

The owner and chef has a wealth of knowledge about alcohol. The walk-in wine cellar, which is kept at around 15°C, is lined with over 120 types of wine, mainly bottled wines from various regions of France, including rare wines that are hard to find.

You can also choose your wine with the staff.

The place of origin is written on the front of the bottle and the price is written on the back, so be sure to look for a wine that interests you.

Once you try it you'll be a fan ♡ A variety of exquisite dishes

From here on, I'll introduce the dishes I had.

Bacon and mushroom quiche

The most popular menu item at the restaurant has the highest repeat customer rate: the "Bacon and Mushroom Quiche" (420 yen).

It is served with carrot slaw finished with orange dressing.

The quiche was crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside, melting in your mouth! I was impressed by the sweetness, flavor, and texture of the eggs. It was also full of ingredients, making it a delicious treat.

The refreshing flavor of the lappé also went well with it.

Sauteed shrimp and couscous salad

Ever since I found out about this restaurant, I've been wanting to try the "Sautéed Shrimp and Couscous Salad" (980 yen).

A generous serving of sautéed shrimp and vegetables is served on top of couscous, the world's smallest pasta.

It was so beautiful from every angle and I was so excited!

The dressing has just the right amount of acidity, making it light and refreshing. The shrimp are plump and plump!

The couscous contained avocado, tomato, pepper, etc., and had a gentle and mellow flavor.

The fennel herb added a nice accent.

Roasted duck breast with port wine sauce

The most impressive dish of the day was the "Roasted Duck Breast withPorto Wine Sauce" (2,400 yen).

Although the meat was thick, I was surprised at how soft it was, so the knife could easily cut into it.

It's juicy and has no unpleasant odor, and pairs perfectly with the fruity, rich sauce.

When you eat it with the mellow and mild tasting mashed potatoes, the savory taste of the meat and the sweetness of the mashed potatoes match perfectly, making it absolutely delicious!

The skin is crispy and fragrant, so you won't be able to stop eating it!

It was one of the most delicious dishes I've had recently, and I'd love to come back just for that!

Today's Pasta

The owner is a talented French chef, but he also had experience cooking Italian food while working at a hotel.

Pasta was also on the menu.

I was excited when the staff recommended it to me, saying, "The pasta here is the best!"

The standard menu is "Today's Pasta" (1,300 yen), the contents of which change depending on what's in stock, but on this day they also had "Sea Urchin Pasta" (1,500 yen), so I ordered that.

Lots of sea urchin!

With its rich, solid flavor, it's perfect as a final dish or as a snack to go with alcohol.

Squeezing just a little kabosu fruit into the drink adds a refreshing taste and makes it even more flavorful.

The atmosphere and food are top-notch, making it perfect for dates and anniversaries. It's a restaurant you can be proud of if you know about it. Please be sure to visit. (Text by CHIHIRO)
