A sweet treat for adults! A luxurious afternoon tea in a Japanese-style space with a great atmosphere (Takamiya, Minami-ku, Fukuoka City)
Hello. This is Chihilog, a casual blog that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.
This time, we will introduce you to afternoon tea that can be enjoyed in a 100-year-old modern Japanese-style building in Takamiya, Minami-ku, Fukuoka City.
Full of Japanese charm! Takamiya Teien Saryo (Takamiya, Minami Ward, Fukuoka City) is known for its beautiful garden and architecture.
Takamiya Teien Saryo is located a 5-minute walk from Takamiya Station on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line.
The former Takamiya Kaijima Family Residence, a registered cultural property of Fukuoka City, was reborn as a restaurant and wedding venue in April 2022. This 100-year-old modern Japanese-style building is quaint and captivatingly beautiful.
There is also free parking, so it is convenient to go by car.
Located within Takamiya Minami Green Space, you can stroll through the garden between 9am and 5pm.
You can spend an extraordinary time while looking at the beautiful scenery of the four seasons.
The seasonal changes are also appealing! Japanese Afternoon Tea
The "Afternoon Tea" we will introduce this time can be enjoyed at the teahouse of "Takamiya Teien Saryo."
You can enjoy seasonal sweets in a comfortable space with a view of greenery from your seat.
The fee is 4,200 yen on weekdays and 4,500 yen on weekends and holidays. Reservations must be made by the day before.
You can start enjoying the event between 11:00 and 15:30, with 90 minutes of free-flowing drinks and a 2-hour seating limit.
The contents of the tea stand change every two months, and the photo shows the stand provided in September and October (serves two).
The welcome drink is "Chiran tea." This is a "deep-steamed" tea that is steamed longer than usual, giving it a beautiful green color.
With the free flow service, you can enjoy sencha tea from tea plantations all over Kyushu, black tea from the German tea maker Ronnefeldt, coffee, and more.
Watching the beautiful process of brewing Japanese tea right in front of you in the tea room will nourish your soul.
Since we went as a group of two, the same desserts were lined up on the first and second tiers from the top of the stand, so each person could enjoy one dish, which was a nice touch. There were a total of nine types of desserts on offer that day.
Clockwise from the top of the plate in the photo, there is persimmon daifuku, sencha fresh chocolate, soy milk pudding with homemade red beans, fig and red wine mizu yokan, chestnut tea jelly, muscat terrine, pumpkin roll, roasted green tea financier, and in the center is a black sesame sable.
One of the most popular items is the "Kurichakin," which is filled with blackcurrant mousse and has a gentle, refreshing flavor.
The "Pumpkin Roll" has pumpkin kneaded into both the dough and the cream, giving it an irresistible rich flavor.
The "Persimmon Daifuku" was a dish that gave off an autumnal feeling, with persimmon wrapped in white bean paste and mochi rice cake.
There are five types of savory dishes on the third row from the top.
Clockwise from the top of the plate in the photo, the dish includes duck with Japanese pepper, burdock satsuma-age, inari sushi with Nankan-age, sweet-simmered red adzuki beans, and pickled cucumber and kelp.
Among them, the "Nankanage Inari Sushi" is especially delicious, with its glossy rice and Nankanage soaked in broth!
A mini Mont Blanc was also brought on a separate plate.
The Mont Blanc paste contains sweet potato ice cream, sponge cake kneaded with soybean flour, and kuzumochi (kuzu mochi).
I was able to enjoy an afternoon tea filled with the flavors of autumn.
Besides afternoon tea, you can also enjoy seasonal sweets.
At Takamiya Teien Saryo teahouse, you can enjoy not only afternoon tea but also seasonal sweets.
This is a seasonal menu item only available in October and November: "Yellow-brown Chestnut Sweets & Ureshino Japanese Black Tea Set" (1,800 yen).
This dish has a different taste from the Mont Blanc served at afternoon tea.
It uses Japanese chestnuts from Kumamoto, and the Mont Blanc paste is layered with a sponge cake kneaded with soybean flour, soybean flour cream, white bean paste, chopped Japanese chestnuts, and kuzu mochi. It has a rich yet elegant taste.
By the way, Takamiya Minami Ryokuchi, where Takamiya Teien Saryo is located, will be holding an event called "Evening Stroll" on Friday, October 13th.
You can casually enjoy a stroll through the gardens without making a reservation, and from 5pm you can enjoy the "Takamiya Teien Saryo rice dumpling and tea set" (limited to 30 pieces, 500 yen for adults, free for elementary school students and younger) at a seat set up in the courtyard.
