A popular shop in the Mojiko area! A stylish hideaway cafe with exquisite sweets (Kitakyushu City)
I was born and raised in Kitakyushu City! My name is Nami and I love good food and going out, and I also run a blog.
It's the season for fun outings. This time, we will introduce some hidden gem cafes that are a little hard to find and are perfect for stopping by on your way to Mojiko Port.
Can you find it? Konze, a hidden cafe in the Mojiko area (Higashihonmachi, Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City)
10 minutes walk from JR Mojiko Station.
The cafe "Konze" is located on the way to the Kanmon Tunnel.
There is a small sign that says "Now Here," but the exterior makes you wonder, "Is this really the place...?"
Opened in 2017, this is a hideaway restaurant where you can enjoy aged beef hamburgers, Japanese tea, and desserts.
Next door is a sister cafe called "Conze Blanc" with white walls.
If either seat is full, you will be seated next to it.
The calm interior is a stylish and relaxing space!
The interior of the restaurant is decorated in a wood-like theme, and there are two tables (one for four and one for two) and two seats at the counter.
Calm music is played and you can spend a relaxing time here.
The entrance is lined with stylish interior decor.
A small blackboard casually placed on the premises lists the recommended menu items. On this day, the menu item was "Premium Japanese Black Tea" (600 yen), made with tea leaves from Aso, Kumamoto Prefecture.
I can see how much care they put into their products by even including information about their place of origin.
No matter where you look inside the store, there are plenty of places to take great photos!
You can also enjoy wine! The popular lunch dish is the "aged beef hamburger steak"
The lunch menu (last order 14:00) consists of two items: "Aged beef hamburger plate" (2,500 yen) and "Thick-cut toast plate" (1,300 yen, also available outside lunchtime).
The "Aged Meat Hamburger Plate" comes with an "Aged Meat Hamburger Steak with Mushroom Sauce and Ricotta Cheese," three appetizers (shrimp and avocado salad with French dressing, pumpkin and cream cheese salad, and semi-dried tomatoes), green salad, grilled vegetables, three kinds of bread, tea, and a snack.
The aged beef hamburger plate available at lunchtime takes time because the hamburger is cooked after an order is placed. If you go right after opening, it will be relatively smooth.
There is also a wide selection of desserts and drinks on the menu!
Just looking at the menu, you can see the owner's attention to detail. You can also enjoy natural and domestic wines (from 1,000 yen a glass) in style from lunchtime.
Which menu will you choose? All the menus are photogenic ♡
What I was looking forward to that day was the "Seasonal Fruit Tart" (700 yen)!
After much deliberation, I decided to order the "Raw Chocolate Cake" (700 yen), "Hojicha Lait Ice Cream" (hot/ice, 800 yen each), and "Original Blend Tea Ice Cream" (hot/ice, 600 yen each).
The "Seasonal Fruit Tart" at this time was peach (not available this year).
The crispy tart crust is topped with fresh cream and peach compote. The thinly sliced peaches have a soft texture and are very sweet. The antique plates used are also beautiful!
After peaches, Kyoho grapes will appear; the fruits change with the seasons, so be sure to check the shop's Instagram.
This is a "raw chocolate cake" made with organic chocolate from Ecuador.
It feels firm when you cut it with a fork, but once you put it in your mouth it melts slowly.
The sourness of orange and the deliciousness of chocolate spread in your mouth and reach your nose.
The fluffy "Hojicha Au Lait" has a smooth texture that makes you want to gulp it down.
If you drink only the bottom part, you can taste the roasted green tea directly, but if you mix it with the foam on top, it tastes more like a latte. You can also change the milk to soy milk.
The "Original Blend Tea" had a wonderful aroma and was very impressive.
The black tea aroma is mixed with a floral scent, giving it a soothing Japanese tea feel. It also goes perfectly with the brown sugar and walnut garnish.
It was a delicious tea that made me want to drink just one more cup.
"Ima-Zore" is a special space where all five senses can relax. Why don't you try it too? (Text by Nami)
