[Ohori Park Area Morning] No sandwich!? A new style sandwich cafe that's the talk of the town (Arato, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
Hello. I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves cafes and has visited over 1,700 cafes in total.
This time, we visited a sandwich cafe that opened in Arato, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City!
Look for the pink door! Enjoy carefully made sandwiches and coffee at "SPREAD SANDWICH BROTHER'S" (Arato, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
SPREAD SANDWICH BROTHER'S opened on August 1, 2023, located in Arato 3-chome, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, halfway between Ohori Park and Nishi Park.
The striking pink door is the landmark.
As the name suggests, this is a shop where you can enjoy sandwiches, but the sandwiches here are not "filled" in the middle.
The store's name "SPREAD" combines the two meanings of "sandwich without sandwiching (= spreading)" and "hoping for the store to continue expanding," and means "to spread" or "to expand (expand)."
The retro sign is also cute!
Let's go inside! The button on the door is just for design, so you can just go in without pressing anything.
Once you step inside, you'll find yourself in a very calm space, something you would never imagine coming from the pink door. The brick-like walls create a mature atmosphere.
There are two tables for two people,
There are two tables that seat four people.
There are also counter seats available for single occupancy.
The greenery displayed here and there is also very calming.
By the way, this shop allows you to bring your dog inside the store.
Enjoy the "no sandwich" style! Specially made sandwiches
All six types of sandwiches are served in a "no sandwich" style.
With some exceptions, you can choose between full size or half size.
This is a half-sized "Bacon Lettuce Sandwich" (full 800 yen, half 500 yen). *The soup and drink in the photo below are ordered separately.
The bread used is from "Itoda Pan" in Takasago, Chuo Ward. It has the cute "SPREAD SANDWICH BROTHER'S" branded on it.
The ingredients are butter-sautéed spinach and thick-sliced bacon on top of lettuce, topped with a soft-boiled egg, and finished with homemade hollandaise sauce.
When you cut into the egg with a knife, the runny yolk oozes out, wheting your appetite.
The rich hollandaise sauce is also delicious and addictive!
This is the "Mackerel and Avocado Sandwich" (1,400 yen for the full size only). Mackerel and avocado may seem like an unusual combination, but they go really well together and are very popular.
You can also add a mini-sized soup to your sandwich for an additional 200 yen.
On this day, we had cold potato soup. It was rich and delicious.
Other side dishes include "French fries with skin" (500 yen), "seasonal salad" (400 yen), and "seasonal soup" (regular size 300 yen), so you can enjoy different combinations depending on your mood that day.
The only place in Fukuoka Prefecture where you can eat them! Be sure to check out the cakes from the popular Kumamoto store "Nishihara Studio"
In addition to sandwiches, you can also try cakes from Nishihara Studio, a popular cake cafe in Kumamoto. This is the only place in Fukuoka where you can try them!
The most popular item is the "Nishihara Studio Cheesecake." It comes in four flavors: plain, matcha, chocolate, and roasted green tea, and costs 650 yen each.
This time I had the plain version. It doesn't contain any citrus fruits and is very creamy! It has a rich flavor, and the richness of the cheese fills your mouth.
In addition to cheesecake, there is also "Nishihara Studio Chocolate Gateau" (500 yen) and "Nishihara Studio Scones" (450 yen).
The wide selection of coffee is also noteworthy
The first thing that catches your eye when it comes to drinks is the wide variety of coffee on offer.
They use beans from "Ma cherie COFFEE," which roasts its own coffee in Fukuoka City. They hand-drip the coffee from carefully selected coffee beans, ranging from light to dark roasts, from different regions.
There are seven types of coffee available, including espresso, Americano, and drip coffee. The drip coffee options include blends, Tanzania, Colombia, and Guatemala (600 yen hot, 700 yen iced), Ethiopian Geisha (900 yen for both hot and iced), and single origin coffee.
They also have tea and lemonade, so even those who don't like coffee can enjoy it.
It was a hot day, so I ordered a "Lemonade" (500 yen). It was refreshing and delicious.
It's open from 7am, so you can have breakfast there too! Why not head towards the cute pink door and check it out? (Text by ayu.latte)
