[Tenjin] Melt in your mouth! "Excellent quality horse meat" at a bar with reasonable prices for alcohol (Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.
It seems that the number of people who don't drink alcohol is increasing these days, but once you reach a certain age, don't you want to be able to say, "I have a favorite bar"?
I found a bar that opened in June 2023 in Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, and it's a very interesting and reasonably priced place. Let me introduce it to you right away.
I've never seen a bar where you can enjoy 100% domestic horse meat sashimi! "Sake Museum Fukuoka Tenjin Branch" (Tenjin, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
The Sake Museum Fukuoka Tenjin store is located on the first floor of a building along Kokutai Road.
As you can see, they have a huge variety of whiskeys and an extensive cocktail menu.
They also have precious old whiskeys, discontinued whiskeys, and brandies, so even those who really love alcohol can enjoy the lineup. What's more, drinks are reasonably priced, starting from 500 yen per glass, with no cover charge!
There are only four seats at the counter, and the rest of the shop is mainly stand-up style.
Among the "Sake Museum" stores all over the country, the "Fukuoka Tenjin store" is unique in that you can enjoy pure domestic horse meat sashimi. There are various parts of horse meat, such as lean meat, marbled meat, and mane, so it seems fun to find a sake that goes well with each part.
There is a large freezer showcase at the very back of the store.
Pick up a cute basket from the counter seat,
You can freely take any domestically produced horse sashimi or seared meat from the freezer and hand it to the staff, who will then cook it for you.
There is a description of each part posted on the freezer door, so if there is a part you've never heard of, be sure to give it a try.
It is divided into 50g portions, perfect for single servings.
I order a drink while the horse meat thaws.
Cocktails start at 600 yen, and a variety of whiskeys are available from 500 yen.
In addition to popular cocktails such as "Gin and Tonic" and "Salty Dog," you can also tell us your preferences and have your own original cocktail created.
You can also order non-alcoholic drinks, so if you can't drink alcohol, feel free to let us know your preferences.
I ordered a mojito (800 yen).
This is really easy to drink, and the refreshing mint scent will help you forget the humid summer heat.
Even a former Kumamoto resident who loves horse meat was so impressed by the high quality
This is an assortment of the dishes I selected myself: "Tategami" (800 yen), "Sakura Tokujo" (1,800 yen), and "Akami Tokujo" (1,000 yen).
Of course, you can order each dish individually, but if you order multiple dishes, they will be served on a platter like this, so it's nice to share them all.
Let's start with the "Sakura Tokujo". No matter how you look at it, I think it's absolutely delicious...
Is this what it means to melt in your mouth?
Once you dip it in the special horse sashimi sauce, it's gone in a matter of seconds.
Even in Kumamoto, it's rare to find horse meat of such high quality. I say this as a former Kumamoto resident, so you can trust me.
The "Red Meat Extra Premium" is no slouch either.
If you're not used to eating horse meat, you might find this has a texture and flavor that makes it more authentic to horse meat.
It has a crunchy texture, and the more you chew it, the more flavor it releases. It's great to savor it slowly while drinking alcohol.
"Tegami" is definitely the perfect snack to go with alcohol. Apparently, the quality of the fat improves in proportion to the quality of the horse meat.
Ah, this is unfair. I can't handle my alcohol but it makes me want to drink.
I'm sure it goes well with whiskey. I hope someday I'll be an adult who can appreciate that.
By the way, there are also rare cuts of liver sashimi (1,800 yen) that are hard to find even in Kumamoto,
It seems that dishes such as "Horse Carpaccio" have recently appeared.
It might be a good idea to buy some "Uma Toro" (900 yen) and put it on rice to finish off the meal with a "Uma Toro Rice Bowl."
By the way, they don't usually provide rice, so you can bring it with you or request it when you make a reservation. This restaurant also allows you to bring other foods.
They also have a rare product called horse meat jerky for dogs. How about buying one as a souvenir for your beloved dog?
"Sake Museum Fukuoka Tenjin Branch" is a place where you can enjoy international alcohol and exquisite horse meat at reasonable prices. If you're going to drink in Fukuoka, this is a place you should definitely stop by. (Text by Yorimitsu)
