[5 minutes from Yakuin Station] We really want to keep this a secret... A hidden izakaya where you can enjoy exquisite original Japanese cuisine (Takasago, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)

Hello. I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves delicious food.

This time, we'd like to introduce you to a hidden izakaya we found in the Yakuin area. You can enjoy delicious and beautifully presented food!

"Meiyakogane" is a hidden izakaya where you can enjoy creative Japanese cuisine that highlights the skill of the chef (Takasago, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City).

"Iiya Kogane" is located in Takasago, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, about a 5-minute walk from both Nishitetsu Yakuin Station and Watanabedori Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line.

This izakaya was opened in May 2022 by the owner, who trained in Japanese cuisine in Kyoto and Tokyo. It is popular for its creative Japanese cuisine, focusing on seafood, and a wide variety of sake.

It's on the second floor of a building called "ARK Seventh Building."

The restaurant has five four-seat tables and counter seating, and fills up quickly on weekends, so we recommend making a reservation early.

A succession of delicious dishes! Introducing the must-eat menu

From here on, I'd like to introduce what I ordered.

The first thing that is brought out is the "appetizer" (400 yen). On this day, it was a bite-sized "homemade meat bun."

Inside was minced pork, pig's trotters, and corn (ingredients change depending on the day).

The seasoning is strong, and the more you chew it, the more delicious it becomes. This makes you look forward to the next dish.

Today's Sashimi Platter

The "Today's Sashimi Platter" (1,680 yen per portion *photo shows a portion for two) is a must-try, featuring fresh fish procured that day!

The lineup for the day included feather bonito, conger eel, tuna, flounder, grunt, barracuda, horse mackerel, and sea grapes.

I was very satisfied with the 8 different flavors! Each flavor was accompanied by the perfect condiment, which made it even more delicious.

Potato salad with soft-boiled eggs and cheese

The "Potato Salad with Soft-boiled Egg and Cheese" (700 yen) has a cute, fluffy shape that looks like piled up snow.

It is topped with grated cheese, whole grain mustard, a soft-boiled egg, and mashed potatoes, and you mix it all together yourself to finish it.

You'll definitely become addicted to the rich flavor of the soft egg and cheese, and the crunchy texture of the grainy mustard!

Grilled Wagyu beef rump

The extremely popular "Grilled Wagyu Beef Aitchbone" (1,980 yen) is inspired by sukiyaki and has egg yolk and sauce as the sauce.

Aitchbone has a lot of marbled meat among the thigh meat, so it has a soft texture, but you can still fully enjoy the delicious red flavor.

It was grilled over charcoal so the fat was removed just enough that it wasn't too heavy and I was able to eat it all in no time.

Avocado wrapped in Japanese beef

"Avocado wrapped in grilled wagyu beef" (780 yen) is an irresistible combination of melt-in-your-mouth avocado and tender wagyu beef.

It comes with mashed potatoes underneath, which is also recommended to eat together!

Wagyu bibimbap style clay pot rice

When we asked, "What rice dishes do you recommend?", we were introduced to "Clay Pot Rice." There are two types: "Sardine and Shiso" (1,080 yen) and "Wagyu Bibimbap Style" (1,580 yen).

On this day, I selected the "Wagyu Bibimbap Style."

When you open the lid, you'll be pleasantly surprised to see that it looks completely different from what you imagined.

Underneath the wagyu beef is a bibimbap-style sauce and egg, making it taste like rice with raw egg on top.

It's piping hot because it's cooked in a clay pot after you order it. The burnt parts are irresistible. It's great to wrap rice in the meat and eat it!

Avocado tempura with cheese sauce

A rare dish: "Avocado Tempura with Cheese Sauce" (680 yen).

The rich cheese sauce brings out the flavor of the avocado even more. The sticky texture of the avocado and the thick sauce were the best.

Pickled peaches

The "Peach Pickles" (500 yen) are made with half a peach, which is in season now, and are incredibly refreshing!

The sweet, juicy peaches and the sourness of the vinegar create an exquisite balance that will have you coming back for more.

Surprising drinks too

There is a wide variety of alcoholic drinks on offer, and the lineup of sake, mainly pure rice sake, is particularly noteworthy.

There was also a wide selection of soft drinks, including "Cream Soda (Melon, Strawberry, Cola)" (580 yen each).

There was even an unusual collaboration called "Sake Cream Soda" (680 yen, pictured on the right).

There are many other dishes on the menu at "Meiya Kogane" that we would like to introduce. "I hope to continue making dishes that you can't find at other restaurants," says the owner. Why not stop by and check it out? (Text by ayu.latte)
