Enjoy a stylish meal of bingsu while walking around Tenjin ♡ "Enjoy Korean street food" at this popular takeout specialty store (Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
Hello. I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves delicious food.
This time, we will introduce you to a very popular Korean gourmet restaurant in Tenjin.
Make your walk around Tenjin more enjoyable! Korean sweets takeaway shop "Hotteok Specialty Shop Moguko" (Tenjin, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
We visited "Hotteok Specialty Store Moguko," which opened on March 30, 2023 in a back alley in Tenjinkita. It is located about a two-minute walk from "Futata the Flag Tenjin," heading north from the Tenjin Underground Mall.
When the owner was traveling in Korea, he often saw people eating hotteok sold at food stalls in the city. He was so impressed by the deliciousness of the hotteok he ate there that he opened the shop in the hope that more people in Fukuoka would eat hotteok while walking around.
The restaurant becomes full when just one group of customers enters.
Although it is a take-out specialty store, there is a mushroom table set in front of the store where you can sit and eat.
A maximum of two pairs can be used.
The shop's eye-catching mascot character, "Moguko," was apparently drawn by the owner's father!
There's something retro and cute about it.
Their famous hotteok is served hot and fresh.
Our signature hotteok is made by wrapping the ingredients and baking them on the spot after an order is placed.
It was my first time eating hotteok, so I was excited as I waited for it to be ready.
There are 13 types of hotteok in total!
There are eight types of sweet hotteok (500 yen each), including "Apple Hotteok" made with apples from Aomori Prefecture, "Anmochi Hotteok" made with red beans from Hokkaido, and "Plain Nuts Hotteok," which is popular in Korea.
There are three types of savory hotteok (500 yen each): "Cheese Hotteok" with plenty of cheese, "Tsukudani Hotteok" containing tsukudani (food preserved in soy sauce), and "Takanao Hotteok" made with takana (pickled mustard greens) from Fukuoka Prefecture.
They also have a "Mini Hotteok 3-kind Set" (750 yen) and "Limited Edition Hotteok" (announced in stores and on Instagram. Prices vary depending on the type).
This "Tsukudani Hotteok" contains silverline whitebait, river shrimp, walnuts, and sesame seeds, and is finished off by being wrapped in roasted seaweed.
The flavor is quite strong, so it's perfect for when you're feeling a bit hungry.
Introducing a new chilly dessert! Authentic Korean shaved ice "Bingsu"
This is the first summer since the opening, and cool sweets have been added to the menu.
"Bingsu" is a smooth Korean shaved ice (small size 600 yen, large size 800 yen).
There are four flavors: condensed milk, yogurt, lemon, and cafe latte.
For an additional 150 yen, you can add the following toppings.
- Amaou from Fukuoka
- Shiranui from Oita
- Amami Oshima passion fruit
- Amami Oshima Plums
- Izu New Summer Orange
- Yame Matcha
- Hokkaido soybean flour
- Espresso powder
- condensed milk
There is a wide variety of options.
This time, I ordered the large size, with the "Lemon" bingsu topped with "Shiranui" rice from Oita. It is topped with plenty of crushed nuts, so you can enjoy the texture.
The sour lemon bingsu and rich sweet and sour Shiranui sauce are the perfect summery match!
It doesn't melt easily, so you can enjoy it until the very last bite.
This is the most popular "condensed milk" bingsu topped with "Amaou strawberries from Fukuoka." It's a classic combination.
At Moguko, we especially recommend the sauces made with delicious fruits, carefully selected from their origins.
This is a small-sized pince-a-potato. It comes in a drink cup, so it's perfect for eating on the go.
For the "Cafe Latte" Bingsu, we recommend pairing it with "Espresso Powder" ♡ Fruit sauce is apparently popular for the "Yogurt" Bingsu.
Introducing new sodas perfect for the hot season♡
We also recommend the new "Soda" drinks (600 yen each) available for summer!
Like Bingsu, this dish uses delicious fruit sauce that is carefully sourced from a particular region.
- Amaou from Fukuoka
- Shiranui from Oita
- Amami Oshima passion fruit
- Amami Oshima Plums
- Izu New Summer Orange
You can choose from.
The sauce sinks to the bottom, so make sure to mix it well before drinking. Not too sweet, but refreshing!
Reset your heated body with not only hotteok but also the newly introduced bingsu and soda!
This summer, enjoy a happy time walking around with some Korean sweets in hand. (Text by ayu.latte)
