A popular shop with long lines in Tokyo and Osaka has arrived in Kyushu for the first time! A freshly baked millefeuille specialty shop near Hakata Station, perfect for souvenirs
Hello, I'm Ayu.latte and I love delicious and new sweets.
This time, we will introduce you to a very popular sweets shop that has just opened in Kyushu for the first time.
In Tokyo, waiting three hours is the norm! The hugely popular freshly baked millefeuille specialty store "GARIGUETTE Fukuoka" (Hakataeki Chuo-gai, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City)
GARIGUETTE Fukuoka opened on the first floor of Hakata Center Tower, right next to KITTE Hakata, on May 1, 2023. It is the third store in Japan, following those in Omotesando, Tokyo and Grand Front Osaka.
This is a specialty store for freshly baked mille-feuille "mille presse," with the theme of "enjoying with all five senses."
Its unique shape is a major feature that sets it apart from the traditional mille-feuille that is eaten with a fork and knife. You can hold it in one hand and eat it while walking around, stuffing your face with your big mouth.
Moreover, they insist on making their pie fresh, and by baking the pie dough, which is made from 100% fermented butter from Hokkaido, at high temperature for a short time, they create a fresh, fragrant aroma and texture. Carefully selected ingredients and cream are sandwiched between the pie dough and the dough.
It's such a popular restaurant in Tokyo that it's not uncommon to have to wait three hours.
I've seen them on TV many times, so when I heard they were opening a store in Fukuoka, I was incredibly happy.
The store's strawberry-themed logo is also cute!
The live feeling of having the work completed right in front of you is also appealing.
Although it is a take-out specialty store, it has a unique design that allows you to see the process of making your order, so you can enjoy the time it takes to receive it.
Once you have placed your order, you will receive your receipt and be guided to the back right side of the store.
You can watch the staff carefully bake each and every pie crust.
It's exciting to see how the food is carefully made, rather than being pre-prepared.
The baked pies are then sent to the workshop, where you can enjoy watching the ingredients being sandwiched and the millepressés being assembled right before your eyes.
This is the signature and most popular menu item, "Napoleon" (1,400 yen / half 800 yen). After the order is placed, the almond-stuffed puff pastry is topped with vanilla and liqueur-flavored custard and strawberries.
Just looking at it makes me sigh, it looks so beautiful and delicious ♡
Finally, place a round piece of puff pastry with a hole on top and it's done.
Another cute feature is that you can see the fruit through the holes!
You can enjoy the perfect balance of savory flavor and sweet and sour taste.
The finished Millepressé is individually packed into a stylish box, designed so that it can be eaten with one hand without spilling.
The paper bag is also cute and makes me excited ♡
Half and half also available! 8 kinds of sweet millepresses
There are eight sweet options on the menu, including the previously introduced "Napoleon."
"Creme de Luxe" (1,000 yen / Half 600 yen) is a simple yet sophisticated flavor made with homemade custard cream, Grand Marnier, and vanilla beans.
"Pistachio & Raspberry" (1,300 yen / Half 750 yen) is a sure-fire combination of rich pistachio cream and sweet and sour raspberry jam.
Other flavors include the refreshing "Citron & Miel" (1,200 yen / Half 700 yen), a refreshing lemon custard cream topped with homemade honey lemon and honey; "Châtie & Cassis" (1,300 yen / Half 750 yen), which allows you to enjoy the rich sweetness of chestnut; "Rum & Raisin" (1,100 yen / Half 650 yen), a custard filled with plenty of currants soaked in rum; "Chocolat & Praline Banane" (1,200 yen / Half 700 yen), a classic combination of chocolate and banana; and "Earl Grey & Abricot" (1,200 yen / Half 700 yen), which combines rich black tea-flavored cream with apricot compote.
You may be having trouble deciding which one to get, but what's great at times like this is the "Half-Half" option, which allows you to combine half of your favorite sweets and enjoy them together (the price of the two half-size options is 1,250 to 1,550 yen in total).
This is a half and half mix of "Napoleon" and "Earl Grey & Abricot" (1,500 yen). Strawberries are placed on top of the special custard cream, and apricot compote is placed on top of the black tea cream.
This is a half-and-half mix of "Napoleon" and "Pistachio & Raspberry" (1,550 yen).
It was crispy and crunchy, with the perfect balance of cream and fruit! It was so delicious!
They sometimes have seasonal products, so be sure to check out their Instagram.
Great for lunch too! Millepresse meal
Mille-feuille is often thought of as a dessert, but there is also a hot mille-pressée menu item available.
Instead of cream, they use potatoes from Tokachi that have been mixed with butter and fresh cream to create a smooth puree.
In addition to "Saumon Fumé & Avocado" (1,700 yen), which combines smoked salmon and avocado with sour cream as shown in the photo below, there are four other types of desserts: "Jambon & Fromage" (1,200 yen), which features ham and two types of melted cheese, "Tonneau & Oeufs Mayonnaise" (1,300 yen), a tuna basil and egg salad, and "Salad Niçoise" (1,300 yen), which is similar to a Nicoise salad.
In addition to drinks, they also offer "Corn Cream Soup" (400 yen) and "Potato Cream Soup" (400 yen), making this a great place for lunch.
If you are purchasing 5 or more tickets, you can make a reservation by phone (up to the day before). However, reservations will close once the daily limit has been reached, so we recommend making your reservation early.
*Hot millepressés (hot meals and sweets) are not included.
