A must-visit on a drive to Itoshima! A popular souvenir shop in a scenic seaside spot
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.
This time we will introduce "Zekkein MARKET" in the Itoshima area, which reopened on March 1, 2024! In what was previously a cafe, Fukuoka-born brands of household goods, cosmetics, sweets, bread, and more have been gathered together. A true "little market" has been born.
There I also took part in a wonderful experience event that is held every Saturday.
A must-visit on your Itoshima drive! "Zekkei MARKET" (Oda, Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City) - a place where you can find Fukuoka-made goods and more
"Zekkei MARKET" is located in Oda, Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City. It is in the Itoshima area, but it is just inside Fukuoka city. In addition to "Sakurai Futamigaura", there are other popular dining spots such as "Itoshima Sabo", "Itoshima Kaisendo Futamigaura Main Branch", and "Beach Cafe SUNSET" in the surrounding area.

There are two food trucks on either side of the stairs that form the entrance to "Zekkein MARKET." You can enjoy homemade lemonade and coffee at "Thread Coffee Fukuoka," and croffles at "cafe suzu.". You can bring the products you purchase here into "Zekkein MARKET" and eat them in the eat-in space.

Saturday only! Original perfume making experience
This time, I participated in the "Power Aroma Perfume Making Experience" held by "kalaku-labo," one of the tenant shops at "Zekkein MARKET," only from 11:00 to 16:00 every Saturday (reservations are given priority and can be made through "kalaku-labo"'s Instagram (@kalaku_32)).
This is an experience where you can choose from a wide variety of scents and colors and make your own!

From aroma reading and color therapy, you can blend and create the natural plant aroma that's perfect for you right now, and create a scent that's one of a kind.

There are two sizes available, 100ml for 5,500 yen and 50ml for 4,500 yen. This time we will be making the 50ml version!

First, choose the cap for your perfume bottle from gold or silver.

There are 16 different base scents in total. There are many different scents, so try them out and choose the one you like.

There is a list that lists the types of aromas used and what scenes they are suitable for, so although you can choose based on the scent, it would also be a good idea to choose based on your mood, the scene, or the image you want to create!
I chose number 4, "Luxurious Rose Scent." It is said to be recommended for times of anxiety or stress, and the aromas used are "lavender, lemon, ylang-ylang 3rd, rose geranium, and rose absolute."
I usually love the scents of lavender, ylang-ylang, and rose, so out of all the different scents I've smelled, this is definitely my favorite!

Once you have chosen the base scent, the next step is to add the scent you are interested in. I especially like lavender, so I add a few more drops of lavender.

Even if you can't find a scent that you like, just tell the staff what you want, such as "I want to add a refreshing scent" or "I want a sweet atmosphere," and they will give you advice on the perfect scent.
Once you have selected your scent, blend it thoroughly.

Next, add color to the perfume. Colors such as "blue, red, green, and yellow" are available, and you can add more color until you get the intensity and color you like. I chose my favorite color, "green." I added about 20 drops because I wanted a darker color, and mixed in 2 drops of red and 3 drops of blue to make it more original.
A deep, beautiful green is completed!

You can stamp letters and numbers onto your labels to make them even more unique.

Put it in a drawstring bag with the logo and your original perfume is complete! It will take about 30 minutes to an hour to complete, depending on the time you choose. If you are lucky and there is an open reservation, you can stop by during your free time before lunch or during a drive.
There is a door inside the store that leads to the sea, so be sure to take it with you to the beach and take some photogenic shots.
