All rooms have an open-air bath with natural hot spring water! "The viscous water is the best" A popular private hot spring that is fully booked even on weekdays (Kumamoto Prefecture)
Hello. I'm Yuri and I love going out with my kids.
It's been almost two and a half years since I moved to Fukuoka, and recently I've become hooked on Kyushu's hot spring culture!
There are hot springs all over Japan, but the hot springs in Kyushu are by far of the highest quality! Truly a hot spring paradise ♡
So this time, I'd like to introduce some day-trip hot spring facilities I've found in Kumamoto, where I often visit for day trips or overnight stays.
It's about an hour from central Fukuoka on the highway, so it's also recommended for a day trip.
All rooms have an open-air bath! A popular private hot spring facility that can also be used as a family bath: "Kuriyama Onsen Beni Sanzashi" (Nagasawa Town, Tamana District, Kumamoto Prefecture)
Approximately 15 minutes by car from Minamikan IC on the Kyushu Expressway.
Kuriyama Onsen Beni Sanzashi is a fully private hot spring facility located in the nature-rich mountain village of Nagomi Town, Tamana District, Kumamoto Prefecture.
When you arrive, first check in at the front desk.
There are a total of 13 private and family baths (4 of which have Japanese-style rooms)! Bathing fees vary depending on the building, but there are three options: 1,800 yen, 2,600 yen, and 3,100 yen (60 minutes each).
All buildings are equipped with both indoor and outdoor baths, and the concept of each is a relaxing space with a Japanese theme.
There is a wide variety of baths available, including cypress baths, camphor baths, rock baths, teacup baths, and tub baths.
The spring quality is alkaline simple weak radioactive hot spring (alkaline hypotonic hot spring). Another thing not to be missed is that the water is directly drawn from the source.
Each room is so attractive that it's hard to choose; I want to try them all.
You can register as a member for free when you visit, so be sure to check that out! Normally, reservations cannot be made, but members can make phone reservations on weekdays only.
In addition, there are special deals only available to members, such as "Ladies' Day" every Tuesday (except holidays) where you can use the facility for 2 hours for the price of 1 hour, and "Senior's Day" every Thursday (except holidays, until 5pm) where members aged 65 and over can use all rooms for 2,000 yen.
The thick, mellow water is irresistible! I was very satisfied with this luxuriously designed hot spring.
Our family used Yamazakura, which is perfect for families, with an indoor bath, open-air bath, and Japanese-style room (3,100 yen for 60 minutes/up to 5 adults *junior high school students and above are counted as adults, and 2 elementary school students and above count as 1 adult).
A luxurious structure that's just like a traditional inn!
The indoor bath features an Arita-yaki teacup bath decorated with pictures of cypress and wild cherry blossoms (there are five Arita-yaki teacup baths). There is also a spacious cypress indoor bath and an open-air stone bath, allowing you to relax.
On the day I visited, I could see the autumn leaves from the open-air bath, which was an extremely relaxing experience!
By the way, in spring you can enjoy the cherry blossom scenery while bathing, and during the autumn leaves and cherry blossom season the place is lit up at night.
The water has a thick consistency that is unique to hot springs and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth.
And they're all at the perfect temperature!
The water wasn't too hot, just the right temperature, and the kids had a great time swimming in it.
Body soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided at the washing area.
The changing rooms are equipped with fans and air conditioning.
There is also a hair dryer.
On the sink, we found Arita ware with the same pattern as the teacup bath!
It's also nice to have a bathroom in the room.
Towels can be purchased at the shop for 100 yen, but we recommend bringing your own if you need one.
The bath fee includes a free juice voucher (one per room), which can be redeemed at the attached shop.
It's a popular facility that is fully booked every day, so we recommend going early.
Each of the 13 buildings has a unique design, so you can enjoy it no matter how many times you visit. If it was closer, I'd go there all the time!
It's also convenient because it's open until 1:00 a.m. (reception until 11:30 p.m.).
The whole family loved it because we could relax there without worrying about what others thought.
Why not refresh yourself with a short trip to a hot spring that will warm your body and mind? (Text by Yuri-chan)
