This time, we will introduce a new facility that opened on September 1st, 2023, which is perfect for a short drive as it is both educational and delicious.

Yamaya Factory Terrace, a facility where you can learn about, buy, eat, and experience Spicy Fish Eggs (Sasaguri Town, Kasuya District)

Yamaya's headquarters and factory, located in Matsushima, Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City, will be relocated to Sasaguri-machi, Kasuya-gun in April 2023.

Adjacent to the company's head office and new factory is the Yamaya Factory Terrace, an experiential facility where you can enjoy Spicy Fish Eggs.

It is located about 6 minutes by car from the Kyushu Expressway Fukuoka IC.

"We want people to love mentaiko even more." With this desire in mind, they started a service that is only possible in a facility adjacent to the factory.

Within the facility, there are factories that can be toured, restaurants, markets and more, so there are many ways to enjoy it.

No reservation required and free admission! A fun factory tour where you can learn about Spicy Fish Eggs

First, there is a factory tour. No reservations are required and admission is free during business hours (some experiences require a fee).

Here you can actually see Spicy Fish Eggs manufacturing process, which is something you don't usually get to see very often.

There is a theater corner where videos are used to explain how to make things, making it very easy to understand!

There are also quiz-style exhibits, so people of all ages can have fun while learning.

When you take a photo, the "Spicy Fish Eggs face" on the screen explaining the production line will change to your face!

At the end, the finished Spicy Fish Eggs will be displayed on the screen. Your face will be included in the image along with the words "Yamaya Factory Terrace" and the date of your visit, so be sure to take photos and videos of it!

Weekends and public holidays only! Experience making your own Spicy Fish Eggs

On weekends and holidays only, they also offer the "Original Mentaiko Pickling Experience" (fee required, reservation required) where you can make your own Spicy Fish Eggs.

All-you-can-eat! A restaurant where you can enjoy Spicy Fish Eggs to your heart's content

There are many menu items that use Spicy Fish Eggs, among which the most popular is the "Mentai Buffet Set" (only available from 11:00 to 15:00). After ordering your main course, you can freely enjoy Spicy Fish Eggs, rice, miso soup, salad, and more in buffet style.

The mentaiko buffet set has different prices depending on the main dish. The popular "Washu beef hamburger teppanyaki" (2,000 yen) comes with a juicy hamburger steak and a separate plate of Spicy Fish Eggs, making it perfect for eating with rice.

The "Kyushu Chicken Thigh Teppanyaki" (1,800 yen) was juicy inside and crispy on the skin, allowing you to fully enjoy the deliciousness of chicken.

There are also menus such as the "Fresh Mentaiko Kamatama Udon Set" (1,280 yen) that will remind you that Spicy Fish Eggs goes well not only with rice but also with noodles!
