[Itoshima Lunch] Juicy chicken full of flavor, grilled on a robata grill! A popular restaurant where you can enjoy the BBQ atmosphere
Hello. I'm Yuri-chan, who moved to Fukuoka two years ago and has completely fallen in love with Kyushu food.
This time, we will introduce a restaurant in Itoshima City where you can enjoy charcoal-grilled local chicken.
Enjoy the freshest chicken and Itoshima vegetables grilled on a robata grill! "Robata Jidori Yamaarashi" (Itoshima City)
About 17 minutes by car from JR Chikuhi Line Gafuri Station. "Robata Jidori Yamaarashi" opened on March 21, 2022 near "Keya no Daimon Park," which has a promenade commonly known as "Itoshima's Totoro Forest."
Just a little way off Shima Sunset Road (Prefectural Route 604), a distinctive building with a flag and cat motif along the prefectural road is the landmark.
This is a restaurant where you can enjoy extremely fresh chicken and Itoshima vegetables grilled on a robatayaki grill, and outside the restaurant I spotted a torii gate with the words "Tori Ii" (chicken is good) written on it. I couldn't help but take a photo (lol).
Guests must take off their shoes before entering the store.
There are over 70 seats on the first and second floors combined, making it a very spacious place!
The overall feel of the space is warm and cozy, with wood throughout. The floor is so soft that if this were my home, I would want to lie down there all the time.
The greenery of the trees visible from the window is also soothing.
Charcoal is burned for grilling meat, so please be careful, especially if you have small children with you.
Excellent! Affordable course where you can enjoy charcoal-grilled Miyazaki Jidori chicken
Orders are made by scanning the QR code on the table with your smartphone.
This time I chose the "Miyazaki Jidori Chicken Course" (2,500 yen).
The set includes chicken thighs, breasts, chicken neck, belly, miso soup, rice (Milky Queen from Itoshima), and eggs (Tsumandego eggs from Itoshima).
The meat used is Miyazaki Jitokko chicken, a Miyazaki Prefecture brand. The chickens are raised in spacious chicken coops for nearly twice the length of time required by the JAS standard, allowing them to roam freely and without stress. The meat is soft yet chewy, and packed with flavor.
You can choose between sauce or salt for the seasoning. This time I chose the sauce recommended by the staff! The thighs and breasts come in 75g chunks.
After the surface has been grilled to a certain extent while still in the chunk, it is cut into small pieces with scissors, dipped in sauce a second time, and grilled again.
If you repeat the marinating and baking process, the flavor will penetrate all the way through, making it delicious.
Once it's cooked, eat it while it's still hot! It's softer than I expected, with a rich chicken flavor and juicy texture. The aroma of the charcoal also enhances the deliciousness of the meat.
Like sukiyaki, it has a richer flavor when dipped in mixed eggs. Combined with the rich and sweet soy sauce-based sauce, it's perfect for eating rice. You can have one free refill of rice.
We also recommend adding yuzu pepper or chili pepper to enjoy a different flavor!
What I personally loved most was the crispy skin of the thigh meat! The chewy chicken breast was also irresistible.
The most popular item among the children was the "Wieners" (500 yen), which were ordered as a single item.
The charcoal-grilled sausages tasted different from the ones I usually eat, and I gobbled them down with great enthusiasm.
Looking at the photo, it looks like it might have been a bit overcooked... (laughs).
The burnt parts had a nice charcoal aroma, so it all turned out well!
And there was one other thing that impressed me this time. It was the "Tsumandego Eggs" from Itoshima.
I was surprised to find that I could actually pick up the yolk with my adult fingers!
It was a first-time experience for the children as well.
You can put the eggs on the meat or on the rice! You can also add sauce and rock salt to your liking.
This sauce is absolutely delicious. We also recommend putting it on rice with raw egg instead of soy sauce.
Free ice cream as a bonus for posting to Instagram stories♪
There was greenery outside the window, and it felt like a BBQ♪ We all had fun and chatted together!
There are three types of course meals available: the "Miyazaki Jidori Course" introduced this time, the "Fukuoka Kodokoro Chicken Course" (2,500 yen), and the limited-edition "Kagoshima Prefecture Jidori Chicken Course" (2,500 yen). They are divided by place of origin, so I'm looking forward to comparing them next time.
Please come and visit us to satisfy your stomach and your soul. (Text by Yuri-chan)
