AKAMIYA COWSI is a steakhouse located about a 5-minute walk from Watanabedori Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line.

This is the oldest of the COWSI group, which offers carefully selected meat from butcher shops (the others are COWSI TERRACE & MEAT SHOP in Kiyokawa, COWSI CAMP in Daimyo, and YAKINIKU COWSI in Watanabedori). This popular restaurant was also selected as one of Tabelog's Top 100 Steak and Teppanyaki Restaurants in WEST 2024.

They are especially known for their lean meats, such as Kyushu Kuroge Wagyu beef, and their aged meats, which are aged to bring out the maximum flavor using their unique techniques. Personally, this is a restaurant I've always wanted to try!

What I'm looking forward to is the "Clay Pot Oxtail Rice Wagyu Beef Lunch" (2,500 yen to 6,000 yen), which started in February 2025. It is served from 11:30 to 15:00 (last order 14:30).

You can choose from the "Japanese Black Beef Steak Lunch" or the "Japanese Black Beef Cutlet Lunch" and it comes with clay pot oxtail rice, oxtail soup, sesame beef, egg yolk pickled in soy sauce, and a choice of two small side dishes.

The price varies depending on the cut of meat and the grams, and there are six options for both steak and beef cutlet: "Ranichi" (100g 2,500 yen, 150g 3,500 yen, 200g 4,500 yen), "Tenderloin" (100g 4,000 yen, 150g 5,000 yen, 200g 6,000 yen). This time, I chose the "Ranichi" (100g 2,500 yen) of the "Japanese Black Beef Steak Lunch".

You can enjoy different flavors with rock salt, wasabi, whole grain mustard, and garlic chips. The whole grain mustard is homemade and sold in the store, and is apparently very popular.

It's lean meat, but I was surprised at how tender it was! It was juicy, and the moment I bit into it, the flavor filled my mouth. The impression changed depending on the condiments I paired it with, and it was a very satisfying taste.

The "clay pot oxtail rice" is a luxurious treat, served one at a time for each person.

The shiny and juicy Aizu Koshihikari rice is topped with a generous helping of oxtail. The aroma the moment you open the lid is irresistible!

The tail was so tender it melted in my mouth. It was so full of flavor that it was an amazing taste when I put it in my mouth with rice!

2 small dishes

For small dishes, you can choose two of your choice from a wide variety of menu items.

On this day, the menu included beef tongue oden, roast pork, marinated mushrooms, stewed offal, country-style pate, and vinegared offal.

Wanting to enjoy meat to the fullest, I chose roast pork and beef tongue oden. They didn't skimp on the small dishes, and they were delicious, just as expected.
