[Popular bread near Ohori Park] The great value sandwich plate is a must-try! A restaurant where you can also enjoy breakfast (Fukuoka)
Hello, I'm Ayaka, a writer who loves delicious bread.
This time, we will introduce a popular bakery located right next to Ohori Park.
Near Ohori Park! LA SPIGA, a popular bakery with a lineup of Italian breads (Ohori, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
The bakery "LA SPIGA" is located on the south side of Ohori Park, along National Athletic Meteorological Observatory and Fukuoka University Ohori Junior and Senior High School. It is about a 10-minute walk from Ropponmatsu Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line.
The entire shop is made of glass and has a stylish European-style design. The mushroom ornaments are also cute.

There is a wide variety of breads, mainly Italian bread. They are also attractive because they are reasonably priced, ranging from 200 to 400 yen!
Particularly popular are the sandwiches lined up in the display case! There are a whopping 25 different kinds to choose from. They are all stuffed with ingredients between "ciabatta" or "focaccia" bread, and look delicious.
Best-sellers include the "Honey Mustard Chicken" (460 yen), a sweet and spicy chicken and sautéed mushroom sandwiched between sesame-rich ciabatta dough, and the "Ham & Tomato" (460 yen), a basic but reliable combination of mayonnaise, green leaves, tomato, and ham. New menu items are added regularly, so you'll never get bored no matter when you visit.
The "Croissant" (240 yen) and the "Danese!", a crispy pastry topped with seasonal fruits, are also popular. On the day of our visit, there was also the "Red Delicious Apple Danese!" (390 yen), a compote of red delicacies in white wine.

I visited on a weekday afternoon, but many of the breads were sold out. If there is a particular bread you are looking for, I recommend going in the morning!
In addition to bread, they also sell baked goods such as "Thinly Baked Biscotti!" (400 yen) and "Pericolo Rusk!" (270 yen), as well as tea. They would make a great little gift.
Enjoy the popular "Sand Plate" at the attached cafe
LA SPIGA has a cafe space (with six tables) at the back of the bread sales area.

When you visit the cafe, you first take a numbered ticket at the store entrance and then order at the register. When a table becomes available, a staff member will guide you to it.

I went there in the early afternoon and it was full, but the turnover was fast and there was almost no wait time.
The most popular menu item is the "Morning Plate" (490 yen), available only on weekdays from 8:30 to 11:00. It comes with 3-4 types of bread, a choice of drink, salad, dessert, fruit yogurt, or soup, and butter, honey, or jam.
What I'm looking for is the very popular "Sandwich Plate" (610 yen), which is also only available on weekdays. You can enjoy it from 10am until closing time.
I also ordered a hot coffee, as I was told that I could get a drink set for an additional 350 yen.

The plate comes with three types of bread (half-sized, one sweet, and two sandwiches) and fruit, which change daily. On this day, there were three types: "Cream Bread," "Tuna Bread," and "Spiced Pork and Egg Sandwich."

The fluffy bread is warmed just before being brought to the table.
The densely packed "Tuna Bread" is full of tuna with a hint of pickles, creating a flavor that you'll never tire of. Even half the size was very filling and satisfying.

The "Spiced Pork and Egg Sandwich" is a delicious dish with a rich sauce. The bread with plenty of sesame seeds is also very tasty! The balance of sweet and spicy is just right, and I ate this sandwich in no time.

And the "Cream Bun." It was filled with rich yet exquisitely sweet cream, and was so delicious I was addicted to it.

The final dish is a platter of fruit and rusks.

The sandwiches and fruit were well-balanced and it was a very satisfying lunch!
Whatever you eat here is delicious. Once you try it, you'll understand why so many tourists, not just locals, visit here. What's more, the staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Please stop by. (Text by Ayaka)
