The popular cafe is back! New menu items including the delicious "anko butter toast" are now available (Shirogane, Fukuoka City)
Hello. I'm Honosuke, a cafe hopper mainly in Fukuoka and Kitakyushu.
This time, we heard rumors that a hugely popular cafe in Fukuoka will be relocating and renovating in January 2025, so we immediately went to check out the new store!
The long-awaited renewal! Enjoy home-roasted specialty coffee and sweets at "GOOD UP COFFEE" (Shirokane, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
GOOD UP COFFEE has moved to a new location near Fukuoka City Takamiya Elementary School, a three-minute walk from its previous location in Takasago, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City.
It is a 10-minute walk from Yakuin Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line and Yakuin Station on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line.
Due to the deterioration of the building, the previous store is scheduled to close in September 2024. After a period of preparation, the new store will finally open in January 2025.
The new store is on the first floor of a three-story building. The simple and stylish glass exterior is eye-catching!

The interior of the store is now four times larger than the previous one, and is a spacious and open space. There are both table seats and counter seats. As before, it is open from 8am, so it is perfect for morning activities.

Apparently, you can spend time with your dog on the newly introduced terrace seating.

Coffee beans, drip pack coffee, and more are sold next to the cash register.

There was also "POUND CAKE" (from 450 yen) available, which can be eaten in or taken away.

The system is that you order and pay first, then wait at your seat.
When I looked at the menu, I saw a lot of "NEW" letters! I got excited and thought "What should I get~♡"♪

We tried the classic "Anko Butter Toast" and the new "Pudding"
This time I ordered "ANKO BUTTER TOAST" (700 yen) and "PUDDING" (450 yen), and my drink was "LATTE/HOT" (600 yen).

First of all, the signature dish that has many fans, "ANKO BUTTER TOAST". Speaking of "GOOD UP COFFEE", this is something that we couldn't leave out ♡
This delicious toast is made with pain de mie from Pan Stock, a popular Fukuoka bakery, topped with plenty of red bean paste that has been simmered for about seven hours, and finished with butter and a little bit of rock salt.

Image: Honosuke
The pain de mie is crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. The fluffy homemade bean paste has just the right amount of sweetness, and goes perfectly with the lighter-tasting pain de mie compared to white bread. The saltiness and texture of the coarsely crushed rock salt add a nice accent, and the sweet-salty taste will become addictive!
As you eat it, the butter gradually melts and soaks into the bread, which is also irresistible.
I myself am such a big fan that when I heard that the previous store was closing, I almost cried, thinking, "I won't be able to eat the bean paste butter toast anymore..." I was so happy to be able to try it for the first time in about five months.
This is our new menu item, "PUDDING."

It had a firm, chewy texture, yet was smooth and delicious! It was a rich, satisfying pudding that had the delicious flavors of eggs and milk.
When eaten with the cream topping, it had a mellow flavor that was also delicious.
In addition to the sweets, the "Coffee" menu, named after the store, is also worth checking out!
The ``LATTE/HOT'' had a good balance of espresso and milk, making it easy to drink and the temperature was just right, making it very delicious.

Staff Recommends! Introducing our new menu
We'd like to introduce you to some new menu items perfect for breakfast or lunch, recommended by our staff.
SALMON CRAM CHOWDER
"SALMON CRAM CHOWDER" (1,200 yen) is a creamy soup filled with chunks of salmon and the delicious flavor of clams.

The fluffy texture of the potatoes makes this a dish that will warm you to the core. We also recommend dipping the bread that comes with the set into the soup!
REUBEN SAND
The "REUBEN SAND" (700 yen) is a classic New York hot sandwich made with pastrami, sauerkraut, and shredded cheese.

Image: GOOD UP COFFEE
Instead of Russian dressing, GOOD UP COFFEE uses their original mustard sauce! The sourness of the sauerkraut adds a nice accent, and it's already a popular item.
TAMAGO SAND
"TAMAGO SAND" (700 yen) is a hearty sandwich made with bread from "Silah" in Nagaoka, Minami-ku, Fukuoka City.

It's filled with plenty of egg, so much so that it overflows when you bite into it with a big bite!
I was able to spend some time relaxing in the open, relaxing interior, occasionally gazing outside. I wasn't able to try the soup or sandwiches this time, so next time I'd like to come for breakfast or lunch.
I hope you all will also go and check it out. (Text by Honosuke)
