If you're looking for a gift that won't disappoint, this is the place! A popular Western-style confectionery shop (Fukuoka) with a wide selection of baked goods that are sure to be a hit!

Hello. This is Chihi Log, a casual website that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.

This time, we will introduce a very popular Western confectionery shop located in Kashii, Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City.

Freshly baked every day! JOYEUX NOEL, a Western-style pastry shop specializing in traditional French baked goods (Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City)

"JOYEUX NOEL" is located about a 4-minute walk from Nishitetsu Kashiimiya-mae Station, along the Kashii approach to the shrine. *The correct name is NOEL, with either a trema or an umlaut (the same character shape) added to the E.

This shop was opened in August 2024 by the owner chef, a pastry chef with 43 years of experience who has opened nine Western-style confectionery shops.

It's a popular restaurant that on some days is so crowded that the shop is packed outside.

"JOYEUX NOEL" means "Merry Christmas" in French. The name was chosen with the hope of bringing joyful moments like Christmas into everyday life.

The interior of the store has a calming decor and gorgeous wallpaper that draws your attention, creating a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere.

Most of the items on display are baked goods. Their signature products are the traditional French confectionery "Biscuit de Savoie" and the wide variety of "Amandines (tarts)" filled with almond cream. They also have a variety of other items, such as pound cakes, macarons, financiers, madeleines, and cookies. The contents and types of goods change depending on the season.

Moreover, they insist on making it fresh, as they want to deliver the most delicious moment possible.

When I spoke to the chef, I was overwhelmed by the depth of the art of baking, as he carefully selects high-quality ingredients and makes his sweets with great care and effort.

It was the first time I'd ever actually eaten something and been so impressed with how delicious it was, and it's no exaggeration to say that.

Let me introduce you to some of the baked goods that I've fallen in love with.

Amazing texture! Freshly baked "Financier"

One thing you should definitely try is the freshly baked "Financier".

On the first day I went there, there were three flavors available: "Plain" (220 yen), "Framboise" (250 yen), and "Matcha" (250 yen), and when I went later, there was also "Chocolate" (300 yen).

The first bite is crispy, then the texture changes to moist, surprising you. This is possible because it is freshly baked.

The almond powder is roasted in an oven first to impart flavor, so even though the sweetness is kept to a minimum, you can still enjoy the elegant aroma and sweetness. Furthermore, the amount of browned butter and the temperature are used to create an exquisite finish.

It was so delicious that after trying just one, I immediately bought another. I even gave some to lots of people because I wanted to share my excitement!

Gift packs of 9 (2,650 yen) and 12 (3,430 yen) are also available.

Unbeatable deliciousness! Amandine

Freshly baked "Amandine (tart)" is also not to be missed.

Caramel nut tart, pear, almond

Among the many "Amandines (tarts)," the "Caramel Nut Tart" (330 yen each), "Pear" (320 yen each), and "Almond" (300 yen each) are popular items that are known as "invincible tarts"!

"Caramel Nut Tart" is the most popular freshly baked product. It uses a generous amount of almonds, macadamia nuts, pistachios, cashews, Brazil nuts, and more, and the nuts are arranged with great care. The rich caramel flavor is excellent. The elegant texture lasts for a while.

The "Pear" is a dish that highlights the flavor of pear. The baking method is also very particular, with the temperature being changed halfway through.

The "Almond" is accented with sweet and sour raspberry jam. It was light and satisfying.

Macadamia

"Macadamia" (380 yen each) is luxurious with its large amount of macadamia nuts and its flavor!

A very popular cake that can be enjoyed at room temperature!

Gateau chocolat

Although it looks like a fresh cake, "Gâteau au Chocolat" (580 yen each) is fine at room temperature. It is a new product that was released in the winter of 2024.

We use several types of high-polyphenol chocolate and cocoa in the dough to the maximum extent possible to give it a rich finish.

It is topped with rich pistachio butter cream and filled with homemade raspberry jam and crunchy milk chocolate praline croquant.

It was incredibly delicious.

Cheesecake

The freshly baked "Cheesecake" (350 yen each) is also a perennial favorite.

It uses cream cheese from Kyushu, such as from Aburayama Farm, and contains blueberries.

The crispy and fragrant pie crust is filled with plenty of carefully made homemade custard cream.

They use vanilla beans from Madagascar that are grown using agroforestry methods (a method of farming in which trees and crops are planted together on the same piece of land).

It had an elegant and luxurious taste!

Let's not forget their signature product, the adorable "Biscuit de Savoie" (1 piece each, Plain small 960 yen, Large 2,480 yen / Chocolate small 1,300 yen, Large 3,250 yen)!
