[New Izakaya in Fukuoka] A restaurant that boasts exquisite original dishes using fruits, including strawberry prosciutto daifuku! (Kego)
Hello! I'm Piroto, a gourmet tour guide in Fukuoka city.
This time, we will introduce a new restaurant that opened in Kego, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, where you can enjoy fruit-based drinks and creative dishes.
A branch of a popular izakaya! Enjoy a menu using fruits in a stylish space at "Fukuoka Sakaba Kizuki-so" (Kego, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
"Fukuoka Sakaba Kizuki-so" opened on December 2, 2024. It is a branch of the popular izakaya "Retonki" in Yakuin.
The restaurant is located about a 9-minute walk from Akasaka Station on the Subway Kuko Line, in an area lined with many restaurants and cafes in Kego 2-chome.

Go up the stairs to the second floor. In front of the entrance is the store's trademark "moon" hanging sign.
The interior of the store is stylish, combining the warmth of wood with inorganic concrete. The soft lighting from the hanging lights installed here and there is also impressive. It is a stylish yet relaxing, comfortable space.
The seating is divided into counter and table seats (the counter is in the foreground of the photo, and the tables are in the back). The U-shaped counter seats surround the kitchen, allowing you to enjoy your meal while watching the cooking.

There are a total of six tables, each for two people. The tables can be connected together for use by multiple people.

The atmosphere is great, so it's perfect for a date or a girls' night out!

Our signature fruit drinks and creative cuisine
At Fukuoka Sakaba Kizuki-so, you can enjoy homemade fruit sours and a variety of creative dishes made with seasonal fruits, based on the concept of "good sake, a Western atmosphere, seasonal fruits and stylish dishes."
There are four kinds of homemade fruit sours (honey lemon, kiwi, orange, and grapefruit), all of which use homemade pickling syrup. They are especially popular because they have fruit inside, which makes them photogenic, and they can also be ordered as squash (non-alcoholic).

The drinks in the photo below are "Homemade Orange Sour" (748 yen, photo on the left) and "Homemade Honey Lemon Sour" (748 yen, photo on the right). The glasses with the shop's logo designed on them are also cute!
The appetizer that day was "Tomato and Yellow Peach Pickles" (350 yen per person).

From the creative menu using the shop's proud fruits, we start with the "Creamy Mozzarella and Mandarin Orange Caprese" (990 yen).
The colorful and beautiful appearance is so exciting. When I tried it, the saltiness of the Caprese was just right, and the seasonal mandarin oranges were fresh and juicy! It was delicious and exceeded my expectations based on the appearance.

Next is the "Strawberry Prosciutto Daifuku" (825 yen).
This dish is an exquisite match of the sourness of seasonal strawberries and the saltiness of prosciutto. The daifuku dough, made with plenty of fresh cream and ricotta cheese, has a smooth texture and melts in your mouth. This is a unique dish that beautifully harmonizes this unexpected combination.

There were also a number of other dishes on the menu that sounded unfamiliar but made me want to try them, such as "Pear and Pecorino" (682 yen) and "Black Beans and Dried Persimmon with Mascarpone" (550 yen).
There are also many delicious dishes that go well with alcohol
Of course, we also have dishes that go well with alcohol, such as the standard izakaya menu.
First up is the "Smoked Potato Salad with Mustard" (748 yen). It contains edamame and thinly sliced smoked daikon radish, and the crispy texture adds a nice accent. The Parmesan cheese and mustard on top add saltiness and richness, making it a very flavorful dish.

Next is "Cardamom Chicken Tempura" (748 yen).
Cardamom, which has a refreshing aroma and just the right amount of spice, mixes with the chicken, and the juicy flavor of the chicken fills your mouth with every bite. The crispy batter has a pleasant texture, and you're sure to become addicted.

And the main dish is "Wagyu steak with cassis and ponzu sauce" (2,255 yen).
The delicious Japanese beef is grilled to medium rare, giving it a perfect texture that is both tender and chewy. The original blackcurrant and ponzu sauce adds a refreshing sourness to the steak, further enhancing its savory and sweet flavors!

Other main dishes include "Spiced Oven-Roasted Local Chicken" (1,430 yen) and "Roasted Pork Shoulder with Nuts, Prunes and Maple Soy Sauce" (1,883 yen). They all looked delicious, so I recommend trying any of the dishes that interest you.
A satisfying finale! Bacon and egg risotto♪
Finally, for the final dish, we chose the "Bacon Egg Risotto (B.E.R.)" (990 yen). It was simple yet appetizing.
The aroma and flavor of the pecorino cheese is distinctive, and mixing in the egg yolk makes it even more mellow and rich. The thick-sliced bacon is delicious on its own!

Every dish was delicious and very satisfying.
This time we went for the a la carte option, but they also offer a 7-course meal (3,000 yen per person), a 9-course meal (4,000 yen per person), and a 6-course meal + 2-hour all-you-can-drink course (3,500 yen per person, reservations only available from 5 p.m.). Check their Instagram for details on the courses.
Enjoy a wonderful dinner with seasonal fruits and vegetables and stylish dishes. (Text by Pilot)
