A bakery in Kurume with a wide selection of affordable and prepared foods, with about 80 varieties of bread in stock at all times!
Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.
This time, we will introduce a bakery in Kurume City that opened in 2023. There are about 80 types of bread available at all times, and the selection of savory breads is particularly impressive.
A wide variety of prepared breads! About 80 kinds of freshly baked breads are beautifully lined up at "Ululu Bakery" (Kurume City)
So I headed to Higashigagawa in Kurume City. It's a five-minute walk from Kurume Daigaku-mae Station on the JR Kyudai Main Line, and is located along National Route 322.
The shop is on the first floor of a building and a little set back, so even though I often pass by the national highway in front of the shop, I had no idea that there was a bakery here.

The inside of the store is like an art museum, with about 80 kinds of freshly baked bread beautifully displayed.
It seems like new products are coming out every week.

I'm sure you'll be excited when you see it for the first time. What made me happiest was the wide variety of deli-style breads.
The time I spend looking at the items, clicking the tongs, wondering which one to choose, is truly blissful.

There are also lots of breads aimed at children, which I'm sure they will also enjoy.

They also sell mini croissants by weight (1g/3 yen). It's an interesting idea. It makes you want to buy a mountain of them.

This is their signature product, "Salted Bread that Wants to Be a Cream Puff" (194 yen). You can't see the cream in the photo, but this popular salted bread is stuffed with homemade whipped custard.
Is it salted bread or cream puffs? I love this naming sense.

Affordable! Pick up some savory bread
The store's lineup is constantly changing as new products are introduced every week, but I'd like to introduce the bread I purchased that day.
The first things that caught my eye were the "Kabocha Nanban" (photo right, 280 yen) and the "Gratin-style Kunchama Mushroom Bread" (left, 280 yen).

The size is about the size of an adult male's palm.

"Kabocha Nanban" has the perfect balance of ingredients!
It's packed with bacon and is very filling, and the pumpkin bread is soft and crumbly with a gentle sweetness.

You should also try the "Gratin-style Kunchama Mushroom Bread."

Can you imagine that melting sensation? The dough is soft and chewy, and the gratin-like seasoning is delicious.

They also use "Kunchama" pork neck bacon. If I lived nearby, I'd buy this every week.
Next is this toast with bacon and eggs, priced at 280 yen.

Wow, that music started ringing in my head.

I see, this is what happens when a professional makes it. It uses familiar ingredients, but the texture and flavor are different from when you make it yourself. I'm sure your kids will be excited if you give it to them.
We recommend warming up the "Aurora Dog" (324 yen) in the toaster.

Like all breads, the dough is really good. The cheese has a strong aroma and saltiness, and the sausage is really long and satisfying. This alone was enough to fill me up.
Snack bread is also very popular!
If you like sweet things, how about the "Custard French" (172 yen)?
Look at this shape. I chose it because I thought it would definitely be delicious, but...

For a moment I thought, "It seems like there's less inside than I thought... Hmm?", but that wasn't the case at all! You'll understand once you've finished it.

The perfect balance of the slightly different fluffy and chewy dough and the custard cream. This is the best.
I was also interested in the "Mini Croissants" (sold by weight for 3 yen per 1g), so I bought a few.

This size is cute, isn't it?

The butter flavor is strong, and the quality is amazing for a size like this. I could eat it forever.
All breads sell out quickly, so if there's something you definitely want, we recommend checking the baking time and buying it early.
