[Ohori Park Area Cafe] The dessert plate is a popular choice! A cozy cafe (Fukuoka City)
Hello! I'm Yumi Kuroishi, a writer who connects the city of Fukuoka with its people.
This time, we will introduce cafes in the Ohori area that are perfect for those who want to relax and enjoy sweets and coffee.
Both sweets and coffee are the main focus. A cafe where you can spend a relaxing time: "yolch" (Minato, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
6 minutes walk from Ohori Park Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line.
"Yolch" is located in a quiet residential area. Its name combines the meanings of "You only live once (YOLO)" and "Choose・Chill" and is a cafe that mainly serves specialty coffee and dessert plates.

The interior is based on ash gray with subtle green accents. There are three seats at the wooden counter and ten tables, and the lighting is soft and warm, making it a comfortable space even for solo diners.
The shop is run by two people: Yamashita-san (pictured left), a pastry chef in charge of sweets, and Nakano-san (pictured right), a barista in charge of coffee. They originally worked at the same cafe and hit it off, so they decided to open a shop together.

Repeat customers continue to come back! The classic dessert plate "Yoruchi Plate"
Desserts at "yolch" are mainly plates inspired by "parfaits eaten on a plate." There are two types available: a standard plate and a plate that changes with the seasons, using seasonal ingredients such as apples and chestnuts.

This time we will be introducing the standard menu item, the "Yoruchi Plate" (1,090 yen).

The main dish is a thinly sliced high-cocoa chocolate terrine that melts in your mouth with its rich flavor.

It is beautifully presented with milk ice cream, almond crumble, raspberry sauce, Japanese black tea jelly, chocolate bouche with coffee cream, and meringue chantilly made with brown sugar meringue and Hamago salt.

The appeal of this plate is that there is no set way to eat it.
You can enjoy the terrine as it is, or pair it with a tangy raspberry sauce. Adding whipped cream and salt to the meringue creates a striking contrast between sweet and salty, leaving a surprisingly light aftertaste.
It was fun to taste various flavors such as sweet, bitter, and salty, and to see how the impression changed depending on where you ate it and what combination you had with it.
The perfect drink to pair it with is the "Yoruchi Blend" (550 yen), made with an original blend of beans. It has a clean aftertaste that complements the sweetness of the desserts, leaving a soothing, relaxing aftertaste.

The coffee beans are specially ordered from "COFFEE UNIDOS" in Itoshima. They are a combination of medium and medium-dark roasts from Nicaragua, and the flavor has been carefully considered to pair well with sweets. It is easy to drink black, and even when paired with milk, the coffee flavor remains strong.
Other drinks available include the "Homemade Spiced Chai Latte" (600 yen), made with homemade chai with a hint of ginger, and the "Homemade Lemonade with Fruit Pulp" (600 yen), which has a naturally sweet and sour taste.

By the way, the dessert plate is Hasami ware, and the mug was custom-made by a ceramic artist. I could sense the care that went into the selection of tableware.
Coffee beans and baked goods for home use or as gifts!
The store also sells original blend coffee beans (from 1,200 yen for 100g), "yolch Original T-shirts" (3,000 yen) with simple designs that are easy to wear on a daily basis, and baked goods such as "Salted Chocolate Cookies" (300 yen) and "Financiers" (320 yen).
What caught my eye was the "Drip Bag and Baked Goods Drawstring Bag Set" (1,360 yen).

The set includes two drip bags, a salted chocolate cookie, and a financier in the shop's original drawstring bag. It's perfect for yourself or as a small gift!
