Now available at Fukuoka Airport! The popular "Mentaiko-ju" bento box is now on sale!

Mentaiko-ju is a popular gourmet dish that has now become one of Hakata's specialties.

Until now, takeout was only available at the original Hakata Mentaiju store, but now you can also buy it at the domestic terminal of Fukuoka Airport!

The popular "Mentaiko-ju" is now available at Fukuoka Airport, available in limited quantities, one day a week!

Starting Friday, October 3, 2025, the signature product of "Genuine Hakata Mentai-ju," "Mentai-ju (lunch box)," will be on sale at "Hakata Shun-ya," a store specializing in Kyushu seafood and livestock products located in the domestic terminal of Fukuoka Airport!

This is the first time that it will be sold continuously at Fukuoka Airport, and it is the only place where you can purchase it other than the directly managed "Ganso Hakata Mentaiju" stores in Nishi-Nakasu and JR Hakata Station.

It will be sold in limited quantities once a week, every Friday through October 2025, and every Saturday from November onwards. The start time of sales will be announced in-store or on social media, so be sure to check.

*The expiration date for the "Mentaiko Ju (lunch box)" is 4 hours from the time of production. *Business hours may change without notice due to aircraft operations. *Please follow the regulations of each airline regarding carry-on items and meals on board.

The "Mentaiko-ju" consists of a whole piece of carefully marinated Spicy Fish Eggs wrapped in kelp, placed on top of hot rice covered in seaweed.

The seasoning sauce used to marinate Spicy Fish Eggs is made by adjusting the various umami components of kelp and other ingredients to achieve a deep flavor. Taking into consideration the time it will take to transport it, the chef went through a lot of trial and error with the type of kelp, marinating time, and temperature to ensure the flavor can be enjoyed in the "best condition" without being affected by different environments.

Mentaiko stew with kelp and Spicy Fish Eggs (1 piece)

This set includes Spicy Fish Eggs, each individually wrapped in kelp, and "mentai-ju sauce." It's a popular souvenir that is uniquely Fukuoka.
