THEN; is a cafe attached to the hotel that opened in May 2024 on the first floor of &HOTEL HAKATA in Reizei-cho, a four-minute walk from Gion Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line.

With the tagline "Eat well, travel often," the restaurant offers a hearty menu perfect for starting the day, attracting attention not only from tourists but also from nearby office workers.

The store's name, "THEN;," apparently contains the message, "Use this as a starting point to recharge your energy, and then have a good day." The semicolon (;) symbol also expresses a casual playfulness that evokes the feeling of a continuation of everyday life.

The interior of the restaurant exudes an urban atmosphere befitting a hotel, and the layout extends all the way to the terrace seating, creating a comfortable, open space.

The terrace seats are covered, so you can relax without worrying about the weather.

The restaurant is mainly made up of table seats, but also has sofa and counter seats, and soft natural light brings a natural brightness to the entire space.

It is reserved for hotel guests in the early morning hours, but is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. onwards, and is so popular that there are often lines from early in the morning, especially on weekends.

The afternoon is relatively quiet, so if you want to enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere, we recommend visiting later in the day.

Food menu supervised by popular Instagrammer "Rika Gohan"!

All of the food menu items are supervised by Rika Gohan, a popular Instagrammer who posts recipes on social media and in books, and offer a rich menu that is sure to leave you feeling satisfied.

One of their specialties is the extra-thick French toast, which is about 6cm thick. Made with soft French bread from the long-established bakery Simon, it has a crispy, fragrant exterior and a melt-in-your-mouth texture.

In addition, there are five other flavors in the lineup, including the most popular "Bacon and Eggs" (1,300 yen) and "Vanilla Ice Cream" (1,300 yen).

A satisfying morning! Try the luxurious mentaiko and honey cheese toast plate

On this day, I had the "Mentaiko and Honey Cheese Toast Plate" (1,300 yen), which is also served as breakfast at the hotel.

I chose iced coffee as my set drink and topped it with vanilla ice cream (+200 yen).

The two types of toast, made with thick-sliced Yudane bread, are characterized by their luxurious, chewy texture.

The cheese toast is made with two rich types of cheese, and when topped off with a drizzle of honey, the sweet and salty flavor fills your mouth.

The other type is toast made with a secret Spicy Fish Eggs sauce and butter, which has a creamy texture but also a spicy kick that will make you addicted.

The plate is also served with a fried egg, sausages, and a salad with a dressing of the day, making for a well-balanced dish.

The coffee is made using beans from SAREDO COFFEE, a popular roaster in Kusagae, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, and although it has a slightly bitter taste, as the ice cream topping melts it takes on a mild sweetness and richness, making it enjoyable as a dessert.

Other set drinks available include green tea and apple juice, and all drinks, not just set drinks, can be topped with ice cream.
