[Kurume Lunch] Super delicious! A shocking bowl of soupless "Dandan noodles" I came across in a fiercely competitive area
Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.
Actually, there are many restaurants in Kurume that serve delicious tantanmen, and I've been to many of them, but recently I came across a bowl that really took me by surprise. I'd like to introduce it to you right away.
Amazingly delicious! If you're looking for "Dandan noodles in Kurume," try "Karamen-ya Gen" (Kurume City)
So I headed to Kurume City's Ichibangai Shopping Arcade to visit the popular Karamen-ya Gen, which opened in 2018.
Whenever I went there, it was always full to capacity and bustling, so for one reason or another I kept missing out on the chance to go in.

When you see the photo, some of you might realize, "That's the place!"
It has a stylish exterior that doesn't look like a ramen shop.

The inside of the restaurant is small, with a few counter seats and table seats.
It has an atmosphere that makes it easy to drop in even if you're alone.

The counter seats have a great sense of realism.

The condiments lined up along the wall are actually used, so it looks great as a display storage space.

The signature dish is "Dandan noodles" (880 yen).
You can adjust the spiciness for free, so if you like it spicy, we recommend the advanced level.

There is a ticket machine right after you enter, so you can buy a ticket there first. It's a layout that won't confuse you even if it's your first time.
This time I ordered a variety of things that caught my eye.
"Dan Dan Noodles" (880 yen), "Dry Dan Dan Noodles" (880 yen), "10 Gyoza" (680 yen), "Special Fried Rice" (680 yen), we'll have it all.

Hand-wrapped gyoza goes perfectly with homemade chili oil!
Let's start with gyoza.
All the gyoza here are hand-wrapped. Apparently they wrap hundreds of gyoza every day, so it's a true work of art. You can tell just by looking at them that each one is carefully prepared.

The doneness is impeccable. When it's cooked just right, it instantly increases your satisfaction.

The following was added:

It was a special handmade chili oil. It may look modest, but it's actually quite powerful...
It's extremely spicy, so try using it in small amounts and see how it goes.

Let's eat.
First, let's go with nothing attached.

It's full of vegetables and has no unpleasant odor at all.
These are just the right small dumplings.

Next, dip it in some special chili oil.

This is also strange, as even though it's quite spicy, you can still taste the flavor.
It's not just spicy, but has depth of flavor and the balance is exquisite.

Free spiciness adjustment! Delicious "Dandan noodles" and "Dry Dandan noodles"
The main dish, dandan noodles, arrived.
Take a sip first.

The aroma of sesame is irresistible.
A refreshing flavor floats through your mouth.

The noodles are thin, which is just how I like them.

I wish I had gotten a large portion of this.
However, my mouth is starting to feel a bit tingly, so I think I'll take a break and have some "special fried rice."

This is just the right balance, and it just goes on forever.
You may want to portion out and share one portion of fried rice.

And then, it's here! This is it, this is it.
The long-awaited "Dry Dandan Noodles" has arrived. Just by looking at the visual, you can tell it's going to be delicious.

Just looking at it will make you drool.
The powerful aroma rising from the mouth makes it feel like a win has been confirmed even before you eat it.

Once the eggs have been dissolved, mix them in all at once; if you hesitate at this stage the mixture will cool down!

Let's attack all at once!
Zolaaaaaa!

Just one bite at a time...
The thick, chewy noodles are coated in a rich sesame sauce, homemade chili oil, and the tingling aroma of Sichuan peppercorns. Every bite is packed with delicious flavor.
It's so much more delicious than I expected!

I finished it all in one gulp and it was gone in a matter of seconds.
I recommend this dish to people who like spicy food, and even those who don't. See you next time! (Text by Yorimitsu)
