Reasonably priced and reasonably sized! A store serving exquisite gelato and baked goods that the whole family will want to visit (Chikugo City)
Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.
Lately, I really feel like "summer is almost here."
When that happens, I really start craving cold sweets. Shaved ice is good, but I'm a big ice cream fan.
So, my personal theme for this year is "Conquering all the Chikugo ice creams." I'm going to visit all the shops that interest me! Now, let's start with the first one.
A stylish shop along the main street, "ALBA Gelato and Baked Goods Shop" (Chikugo City)
Today's destination is the gelato and baked goods shop ALBA in Uinuzuka, Chikugo City. The parking lot is right in front of you.
The shop has a cute Scandinavian-style exterior and exudes a chic atmosphere. It feels like the air is clear only here.

There is no eat-in option, only take-out, but there is terrace seating outside, so on nice days you can relax and enjoy your meal there.

They also have smoothies and other drinks, as well as kids' gelato. It's great for families.

When you enter the store, the first thing that catches your eye is the variety of baked goods.

The smell of freshly baked bread already stimulates your appetite. You'll be like, "Oh, I came here to eat ice cream, but isn't this too tempting?"
There is also a lineup of cute cookies that tickle the child in you. There are bears with backpacks on their backs, dinosaurs, and so on. If I were a toddler, I would probably scream, "Give me all of them!"
A wide selection of 10 types of gelato!
And the main attraction: gelato!
The prices are also great for families, with "Single" (400 yen), "Double" (550 yen), "Triple" (700 yen), and "Kids" (300 yen)! *Kids sizes are only available to elementary school students who come to the store.
You can choose between a cup or a cone, with the cone costing an additional 100 yen.

On this day, there was a wide selection of flavors, from classics to something a bit different, including "Pistachio" (+100 yen), "Black sesame," "Soybean flour mochi," "Chocolate," "Hojicha," "Milk," "Double berry yogurt," "Mixed fruit," "Amaou strawberry from Chikugo," and "Strawberry tiramisu" (+100 yen), so you're sure to be tempted.

There are a total of 10 different flavors available, which change with the seasons.

The one that caught my eye was the "Kinako Mochi". It's not just kinako. It contains gyuhi... it's a Japanese sweet. I have to try it.

So this time, I decided to use all my adult financial resources and go for the ``Triple'' (700 yen)!
I chose "Strawberry Tiramisu (+100 yen)", "Chikugo Amaou" and "Soybean Flour Mochi". When I was a student, I hesitated to indulge in this luxury... but now I can easily afford it. That's what it means to be an adult (smugly).

This is definitely the one to go for on a hot day. It seems to melt quicker than regular ice cream or gelato.

First of all, I was impressed by the wonderful aroma of the Chikugo Amaou strawberries.
The scent of strawberry spreads so softly that you wonder if it can smell that strong. As soon as you put it in your mouth, not only the sweetness of the strawberry but also its sourness and freshness spread throughout your mouth, making you think, "So this is what fruitiness feels like."
I think it's amazing how the power of materials can create such a strong presence.

"Strawberry Tiramisu" is a special flavor that you can order for an additional 100 yen, but it's definitely something you should try. It has a cookie dough mixed in, so it has a tiramisu-like texture and is a unique flavor.
It's not too sweet, and the sourness of the strawberries is perfectly combined, making you exclaim "Wow!" every time you take a bite. It feels like a slightly luxurious, grown-up dessert.

After all, the best part of these double and triple ice creams is the mixture, isn't it? It's like getting twice the flavor in one bite.

The exquisite marriage of "Strawberry Tiramisu" and "Amaou strawberries from Chikugo" is also wonderful.

And as the name suggests, the "Kinako Mochi" has tiny pieces of gyuhi inside, which adds a chewy texture to the gelato that melts softly in your mouth...it's the perfect Japanese sweet!
The moment you put it in your mouth, you'll be hit with the aroma of soybean flour, followed a little later by the chewy texture of mochi.
The "space" is also excellent. It's so delicate, it's as if it was made by a Japanese confectioner, and I was completely captivated.

With sizes and prices that both adults and children can enjoy, and a wide range of flavors, this is a shop you'll want to visit again and again.
You can buy some baked goods as souvenirs to take home, or just enjoy a quick gelato.
Ah, this is such a great restaurant that I'm already thinking about which flavor I'll try next! (Text by Yorimitsu)
