Tonkatsu Wakaba Imaizumi Branch (a pork cutlet bowl specialty restaurant) is located in Imaizumi, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City, about a 3-minute walk from the south exit of Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station.
At the second branch of Tonkatsu Wakaba in Tenjin, you can enjoy a variety of donburi dishes based on katsudon.

This is the most popular item, the "Katsutama Donburi Medium Size" (1,100 yen). It also comes with pickles, miso soup, and cabbage served with a special corn dressing.
You can choose from three sizes: small, medium, and large, but they are all the same price, so you can choose according to how hungry you are.

When you open the lid of the bowl, you'll see an impressive pork cutlet! The contrast between the juicy meat and the crispy batter is irresistible.

The most distinctive feature of the "Katsutama-don" is that instead of sealing the pork cutlet with egg, a fluffy egg is placed underneath. The sweet sauce soaks into the egg, gently binding the pork cutlet and rice together.

"Butamania Donburi Inadaya" is located on the first basement floor of Sanserco in Watanabedori, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City, about a 4-minute walk from Watanabedori Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line.
Open only during weekday lunch hours, this popular restaurant is loved by locals and office workers working in the neighborhood.

This is the signature dish, "Butamania Donburi." Depending on the amount of rice, you can choose from four sizes: small 900 yen, regular 950 yen, large 1,050 yen, and special 1,150 yen. (The photo shows the regular size.)

The "Butamania Bowl" is made with two types of meat: sliced pork belly and thickly sliced charcoal-grilled pork, which are exquisitely combined with a secret, rich, sweet sauce. The charcoal-grilled pork in particular is thickly sliced but tender, and the moment you bite into it, the aroma and delicious flavor of the meat spreads throughout your mouth.
One of the charms of the "Butamania Donburi" is that it can be eaten in a variety of ways. Please refer to the "recommended way to eat" instructions on the table as you eat.

You can mix in eggs, add various seasonings to change the flavor, and finally pour dashi over it to make a light yet mellow dashi chazuke.

Another reason for its popularity is the friendly and courteous customer service. They also offer a variety of other great services, such as a free extra-large serving for students and a 100 yen discount for those 70 years and older. Niku Ichiban is a meat specialty restaurant located in Takasago, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City, about a 6-minute walk from Watanabedori Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line.

The menu is posted on the wall outside, and there are plenty of meat dishes on the menu, including steaks, hamburgers, and beef stew.

This is the popular "Hanging Tender Steak Set Meal (240g)" (2,160 yen). Served on a piping hot iron plate, it sizzles and whets the appetite.
Sizes range from 180g to 480g in 60g increments, and you can increase the amount by 540 yen for every 60g. *Although the menu shows a maximum of 480g, you can also order in larger quantities.

This tender steak is packed with the delicious flavor of lean meat, and it's so delicious you won't be able to stop eating it once you've had a bite. It's a low-fat cut, so it's also low in calories and healthy, which is a plus. What's more, it's cut into bite-sized pieces, making it easy to eat for both men and women!
The set meal comes with salad, miso soup, and rice. You can also change the rice from white rice to cold tofu. (*The photo shows the rice changed to cold tofu.)
There are many teppanyaki dishes such as the "Japanese Black Beef Yakiniku Teppan Teppanyaki Set Meal" (990 yen, currently out of stock) shown in the photo, as well as dishes under 1,000 yen, such as "Beef Tendon Rice Bowl" (550 yen), "Japanese Black Beef Leek and Liver Teppan Teppanyaki Set Meal" (890 yen), and "Japanese Black Beef Hamburg Steak Set Meal" (990 yen).

All of the dishes are very filling and satisfying. Being able to eat Kuroge Wagyu beef for under 1,000 yen is a great deal.
They also serve alcoholic drinks, so it's recommended for daytime drinking. This is a Torys Highball (130 yen). The combination of delicious meat and alcohol is irresistible.

"Chicago Steak Aurora Irire" is located in Ropponmatsu, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City, an area popular with gourmet adults, about a 5-minute walk from Ropponmatsu Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line.
This popular restaurant often has long queues (especially on weekends) where you can enjoy a high-quality, reasonably priced steak lunch.

The menu offers a variety of steak sets, including the "Beef Tenderloin Steak Set (100g)" (1,450 yen) introduced here, as well as "Thigh Steak Set (100g)" (1,210 yen) and "Domestic Rump Set (100g)" (1,870 yen).
After ordering, the salad and soup set were brought out first. The fresh salad and the lightly salted onion soup heightened my anticipation for the main course.

Next up is the main dish, "Beef Hanging Steak (100g)"! It also comes with potatoes as a side dish.

The beautifully lean meat is soft and chewy, with a juicy flavor that bursts with flavor the more you chew it. It's also carefully scored to make it easy to eat, which is a nice touch.
You can increase the steak by 50g for an additional 550 yen, so choose according to how hungry you are.
And surprisingly, you can have as many refills as you like of the rice, salad, and soup. The staff will ask you with a smile, "Would you like a refill?", so even if you're alone, you can feel free to ask without hesitation in this warm and welcoming restaurant.

There are a variety of condiments on the table, including steak sauce, chopped wasabi, and rock salt, so you can enjoy your meal to the last detail by changing the flavor and tailoring it to your taste.

What's more, we even had ice cream for dessert after the meal! We were very satisfied.

[Sumiyoshi, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City] A versatile dish with ever-changing flavors! Torimabushi, a new Hakata staple made with Kyushu-grown chicken
Torimabushi is located just a 6-minute walk from Kushidajinja-mae Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line, right next to Canal City Hakata. Like Hitsumabushi, this restaurant serves a unique chicken dish that allows you to enjoy multiple variations of flavor in one bowl.
This famous restaurant, which was previously popular in Nakasu, relocated and reopened in the Sumiyoshi area in 2025.

The specialty menu item is of course the restaurant's eponymous "Tori Mabushi Gozen." You can choose from three sizes: regular (1,680 yen), high-grade (1,980 yen), and special grade (2,280 yen), and it also comes with pickles, a soft-boiled egg, and condiments (the photo shows the regular size).

The rice is topped with a generous amount of chicken skin and thigh meat, grilled in a secret sauce. The golden brown color and glossy shine are sure to whet your appetite.
Kyushu's proud brand chicken, "Hanamidori," is carefully grilled while repeatedly dipping it in a special sauce, resulting in crispy, fragrant skin and surprisingly plump, juicy meat. Once you bite into it with rice, you won't be able to stop eating!

It's delicious just as is, but the true essence of "Tori-mabushi" begins here! We'll introduce you to the ever-changing world of flavors, along with the restaurant's recommended way of eating it.
First, enjoy the first cup as it is.

For the second bowl, it's time to add the seven condiments lined up on the table. Just adding a little shichimi (seven spices) or sansho pepper can completely change the flavor.

For the third bowl, add the soft-boiled egg that comes with it! The runny yolk envelops the whole bowl, creating a mellow and rich flavor.

Finally, pour in the special chicken broth and enjoy it like ochazuke (in the photo, the included wasabi has also been added). The mild soup, infused with the umami of chicken, brings everything together.

Torimabushi is truly versatile, allowing you to enjoy a variety of delicious flavors in one bowl. It's a new staple gourmet dish in Hakata that you definitely should try.

"Pork Steak Toichi" is a popular restaurant with multiple locations in Fukuoka City, attracting many fans. This time, we will introduce its main branch, "Hakataeki Minami Main Branch." It is located about a 14-minute walk from the Chikushi Exit of Hakata Station on the Subway Airport Line.

The main feature of this restaurant is that it only has one item on the menu: "Pork Steak" (1,200 yen). Once you sit down, there is no need to order; the pork steak is served sizzling on a hot iron plate, accompanied by rice, miso soup, and pickles.

This pork steak is made with fresh pork delivered directly from a pig farm. It is slowly cooked at a low temperature, and the beautiful cross-section will whet your appetite.
The meat is cooked to a medium rare perfection and then cooked on a hot iron plate.
*If you would like your food cooked thoroughly before serving, please let the staff know in advance and they will be happy to accommodate.
Even though it's thickly cut, it's surprisingly tender and juicy!

Katsumeshi Class is located in Ohashi, Minami-ku, Fukuoka City, about a 9-minute walk from Nishitetsu Ohashi Station. *Scheduled to close at the end of August 2025
This restaurant offers the unusual combination of katsumeshi and Okinawa, where you can enjoy katsumeshi, the soul food of Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture, along with a variety of Okinawan local dishes.

The standard style of katsumeshi is to place a cutlet on top of rice, pour a generous amount of demi-glace sauce over it, and garnish it with boiled cabbage.
This "Beef Cutlet Rice" (1,080 yen) is also like that, with the beef cutlet and demi-glace sauce going perfectly together, making it a dish that will definitely make you want to eat more rice.

For those who want a hearty meal, we recommend the "Katsumeshi Class Plate" (1,500 yen). It's packed with deep-fried foods such as pork cutlet, fried horse mackerel, and minced meat cutlet, making it a very filling meal. The price is very reasonable considering the amount!

The owner has six years of experience working on Ishigaki Island, so the menu includes many local Okinawan dishes and alcoholic beverages.
This is "Freshly Fried Sata Andagi" (180 yen each). Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, it's recommended as an after-meal dish. It's quite rare to find a place in Fukuoka where you can eat freshly fried Sata Andagi!

In front of the counter, there is a row of Okinawan alcoholic drinks, including Ishigaki Island's awamori. You can also drink during the day.
