[Directly connected to Hakata Station] Kyushu's first sweets! Chewy and melt-in-your-mouth "Gelato Daifuku Mochi"
Hello♪ I'm chippachapus and I love going to cafes.
This time, we will introduce a shop where you can enjoy "new-concept sweets" that opened near JR Hakata Station on March 28, 2025!
Introducing a new Hakata sweet treat to eat on the go! Gelato Daifuku specialty store "Imonne Hakata" (Hakata Station Central Street, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)
Imonne Hakata store is located on the first floor of Hakata Marui, which is directly connected to JR Hakata Station.
This popular restaurant has its main store in Okage Yokocho, a popular food spot located right next to Ise Shrine in Mie Prefecture. The newly opened Hakata store is the third store after Nagoya and the first in the Kyushu area.

The store's name, "Imonne," is a combination of "imo" (sweet potato) and the Mie dialect "nne." The name comes from the fact that the store owner, the daughter of a potato farmer, was called "Imonne" in the local dialect, and it also means "a woman who makes delicious potato sweets."
After many years of making sweets using sweet potatoes, he has finally come up with a product that he is satisfied with: "dried sweet potato gelato," which allows you to enjoy the best quality of the sweet potato ingredients to the fullest.

At the shop, you can enjoy nine kinds of homemade gelato, including dried sweet potato gelato, the signature products "Shin Jela Mochi" and "Jela Fuku," as well as drinks.

First unveiling at the Hakata store! Try the improved "Mochimochi Gyuhi Mochi" and the "New Jera Mochi."
First, we would like to introduce the very popular "New Jera Mochi."

Image: chippachapus
This innovative sweet treat consists of homemade gelato wrapped in homemade gyuhi mochi, and is available in one-tiered (from 540 yen) and two-tiered (from 790 yen).

Image: chippachapus
There's a reason why it's called "New Jera Mochi." The gyuhi mochi used at the Hakata store was developed after two years of trial and error, and is softer and chewier than the previous gyuhi mochi.
It's also nice to be able to enjoy freshly made food every day.

Image: chippachapus
In addition, a new mochi machine has been installed, and the Hakata store is the only place where you can see the gyuhi mochi rolling out.

Image: chippachapus
Once an order is placed, the gyuhi mochi is flattened using a special tool.

Image: chippachapus
You can currently choose from nine different types of gelato, including seasonal ones, and the gelato is said to be richer in flavor than ever before.

Image: chippachapus
Since it's a demonstration where you can see all the steps right in front of you, I was excited even before I started eating it.

Image: chippachapus
The photo shows the recommended "New Jera Mochi. Two-tiered." In the two-tiered version, the top tier of Jera Mochi is smaller than the bottom tier.
It usually costs 790 yen, but for premium flavored gelato it is an additional 100 yen for the bottom tier and an additional 50 yen for the top tier.
You can choose from four types of finishing powder: "Wasanbon," "Soybean flour," "Ise matcha," and "Sakura."

Image: chippachapus
The Jera Mochi is fluffy and chewy, yet melts in your mouth, a texture never seen before. The gyuhi mochi and the smooth, melt-in-your-mouth homemade gelato go perfectly together and were delicious.

Image: chippachapus
The gelato flavors available that day were "dried sweet potato," "Ise matcha," "Meyer lemon," "hojicha," "wasanbon milk," "sakura," as well as the premium flavors "sakura," "strawberry," "Belgian chocolate," and "pistachio."
From here on, I'll introduce the gelato that I tried.
Ise Matcha
It uses a generous amount of rich Ise matcha, and the flavor allows you to directly taste the tea leaves, making it irresistible for matcha lovers.

Wasanbon Milk
This milk gelato is made with wasanbon sugar, a traditional high-quality Japanese sugar. It has a rich milk flavor.

Image: chippachapus
Pistachio (premium flavor)
It had a rich flavor like pistachio itself, but also had a good, elegant aftertaste.

Image: chippachapus
Belgian chocolate (premium flavor)
They use carefully selected chocolate and the richness of the chocolate fills your mouth and is delicious.

Image: chippachapus
Strawberry (premium flavor)
It has a good balance of sourness and sweetness, and when combined with gyuhi mochi it tastes like strawberry daifuku. The unique sweet and sour taste of strawberries is amazing!

Image: chippachapus
Sakura (premium flavor only available in spring)
A spring-like flavor with cherry blossom bean paste kneaded into the dough. The elegant and refreshing taste of cherry blossoms was delicious.

Image: chippachapus
You can also top your drink with this! "Shin Gelafuku" is a gelato with homemade bean paste and red beans.
This is the "New Jelafuku" filled with plenty of gyuhi mochi.
There are three different flavors, the one in the front of the photo is "New Jelafuku. Potato" (540 yen), and the one in the back is "New Jelafuku. Seasonal Sakura Pistachio" (590 yen).

Image: chippachapus
"Shin Jela Mochi" is made with more gyuhi mochi than usual and is filled with homemade bean paste and gelato.

Image: chippachapus
Sakura Pistachio is a daifuku with sakura bean paste and pistachio gelato. The melting texture of the gyuhi mochi and gelato combined with the bean paste makes this a new and unique daifuku.

Image: chippachapus
The sweet potato filling is a combination of sweet potato paste and dried sweet potato gelato. The sweet potato has a unique sticky texture and sweetness that makes you want to eat several pieces.

Image: chippachapus
"Shin Jela Fuku" also comes with an iced drink topping (400 yen on top of the drink price), making it a great snack to eat while walking around.

Image: chippachapus
Both "New Jela Mochi" and "New Jela Fuku" are styles never before tried.
Not only was it cute to look at, but it was so delicious that you'll definitely want to eat it again once you've tasted it ♡ Be sure to check out this new store that's garnering a lot of attention ♪ (Text by chippachapus)
