Hello! I'm Taiki Beef Curry, a curry fanatic who searches for delicious curry every day!

This time, I'd like to introduce the curry restaurant that got me interested in curry.

Only open on weekends during the day! "Shugyo Curry" (Kumamoto City), a popular restaurant visited by customers from all over the country

Shugyo Curry is located in the residential area of Kurokami, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City, about 1.5 to 2 hours by car from Fukuoka city (using toll roads).

Although it is only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:30 to 15:00 (or closes when the curry runs out), it is a popular restaurant that attracts customers from all over the country. It opened in 2019. Before that, it did not have a brick-and-mortar store and instead set up stalls at events and markets both in and outside the prefecture.

I first encountered "Shugyo Curry" about 7 or 8 years ago.

I've always felt that I don't like spicy food, but when I tried the Sri Lankan curry from Shugyo Curry at a market in Kumamoto, I was shocked to find that curry could be so interesting and delicious!

From then on, he developed a love for curry, and now calls himself a curry fanatic.

By the way, Sri Lankan curry is mainly made using coconut and Maldive fish, which are similar to dried bonito flakes, and is served with multiple curries and side dishes on one plate, which are then mixed together before eating. These are said to be the origins of the recently popular "mixed curry."

The store is filled with merchandise related to the owner's beloved team, the Hanshin Tigers.

The menu changes weekly! Mix and enjoy the changing flavors of this dish.

Currently, Shugyo Curry is served in a "mixed style" with two types of curry and several side dishes served on one plate.

You can eat the curry and side dishes separately, or mix them together.

The curry changes weekly. There are many varieties, including Sri Lankan curry, but the other day they also made beef curry.

On this day, we had a combination of "Toriko Vindaloo" and "Keema Curry with Spring Onion Stock" (1,500 yen).

Trichovindaloo

This vindaloo uses smoked vinegar made by Butanotoriko (R), a popular Kumamoto store that sells smoked bacon without any food additives.

Vindaloo is a dish from the Goa region of India, a spicy and sour curry made with vinegar and garlic.

The sweetness of the moist and tender pork is a perfect match with the spiciness of the chili peppers and the tartness of the fragrant smoked vinegar.

The coriander grown at Kikuchi Vegetable Farm in Kumamoto was easy to eat, with barely any coriander smell to be found anywhere else.

Kashmiri Chili Sauce

"Kashmir chilli" is a type of red chilli grown in the Kashmir region of India.

Chili peppers are often thought of as spicy, but in fact they are not very spicy and have a fruity aroma.

On this day, it was served as a way to change up the flavor of curry.

The sweetness and saltiness of the soy sauce is complemented by the aroma of Kashmiri chili, and I think it would go well with curry as well as fresh sashimi.
