The chewy and springy noodles are superb! "Buzen Urauchikai" Udon Shop (Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City)

This time, we will introduce you to a udon restaurant in Yukawa, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City.

Open from 6:30am on weekends! "Udonya Toshiharu" (Yukawa, Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu City) is a restaurant that specializes in broth and noodles

Udon-ya Toshiharu is located along National Route 10, about a 7-minute walk from Abeyama Koen Station on the JR Nippo Main Line.

This restaurant is a member of the Buzen Urauchi Association, which specializes in high-quality broth and noodles, and was opened on October 28, 2024 by the experienced owner, Kashiwagi.

On weekends, they are open from 6:30am, which is unusual for a udon restaurant, so you can come before going out, before going to work, or after a night shift.

Look for the large sign on the wall of the shop and the yellow flag along the road.

It is a small restaurant with 10 seats at the counter and one table that seats four.

First, purchase a meal ticket from the ticket machine (cash only, 1,000 yen bills only).

A rich menu! Thin udon noodles that never disappoint

There are 37 types of noodles on the menu, including "Udon" (from 450 yen), "Bukkake" (from 650 yen), "Tsukemen" (from 650 yen), and "Udon and Mini Rice Bowl Set" (from 800 yen). There are also 14 types of "Toppings" (from 80 yen), so you can enjoy udon to your liking.

This time I had the "Topped Udon" (720 yen).

It is topped with shrimp tempura, burdock tempura, kitsune, egg, seaweed, and more, and is packed with ingredients just as the name suggests!

First, we start with the clear soup. The flavor of the dashi stock is effective and warms up our cold bodies.

The noodles are smooth, chewy and absolutely delicious! They are chewy and springy, and are addictively delicious.

The tempura is freshly fried, the shrimp tempura is plump and the burdock tempura is crunchy and fragrant, and when dipped in the soup it's even more delicious!

On the table, there are super spicy chili peppers such as "Golden", "Oshidori" and "Yellow Yuzu Gosho", so you can enjoy different flavors.

Not just single dishes! Great value set menus available too!

We also recommend the set menu of udon and a mini rice bowl.

This time I had the "Toshiharu Set" (830 yen), named after the restaurant.

The set includes udon noodles, a mini rice bowl, and pickles. You can choose from the following mini rice bowls: "Pork cutlet rice bowl," "Tendon rice bowl," "Beef rice bowl," and "Egg rice bowl."

The noodles were thin and chewy, and there was plenty of wakame seaweed in the ramen.

I chose the "katsudon" mini bowl that came with the set.

The pork cutlet was sweet and delicious, with a strong flavor from the dashi stock. It was topped with a perfectly soft-boiled egg, and was of high quality! Although it was a mini size, it was a very satisfying pork cutlet bowl.
