A hidden gem of a cafe with a relaxing atmosphere and plenty of flowers (Kitakyushu City) that also serves special sweets

Hello. I'm Honosuke, and I love relaxing in stylish cafes.

This time, we will introduce a cafe in Kamiyoshida, Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu City, that is a must-see for those who love flowers and sweets.

Enjoy flowers and sweets together! OLDBANK, a hidden gem of a cafe filled with the owner's passion (Kamiyoshida, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City)

OLDBANK opened in July 2022 on the site of a former bank along Prefectural Route 25. It is a shop that combines a flower shop, a general store, and a cafe.

It is located a one-minute walk from the Nishitetsu bus stop, Yoshida Danchi Post Office, and less than 10 minutes by car from Shimozone Station on the JR Nippo Main Line. There is also a parking lot, so you can come by car with peace of mind.

The name of the shop was given to it by a friend who was in charge of the interior construction of the shop.

You can see a lot of plants even from the outside. Many first-time customers have various guesses, wondering "What kind of shop is this?" "Is it a flower shop? Or a beauty salon?"

As soon as you enter the shop you'll be greeted by the lovely scent of flowers ♡ Combined with the owner's warm smile, it really puts your mind at ease.

You can purchase flowers starting from just one stem, and you can also order by telling us your budget, preferred type, color, etc. It seems like it can be used for a variety of occasions, such as daily healing or important anniversaries.

In addition to flowers, they also sell flower vases and one-of-a-kind vessels that are no longer in production.

The cafe at the back of the store serves light meals, sweets, and drinks. It's so nice to be able to not only buy flowers, but also enjoy sweets surrounded by beautiful flowers.

The cafe space has a relaxed atmosphere and has four tables that seat two to three people. It is recommended for small groups.

You can reserve a seat, so if you know the date and time you want to use it, it might be a good idea to make a reservation!

You can see the flowers from every seat, which is very relaxing.

We tried the "mini parfait" where you can enjoy seasonal fruits and the new menu item, "waffles"!

This time, I had two kinds of sweets.

First, let's have the "Mini Parfait" (495 yen).

It's so cute, like happiness is crammed into a palm-sized bowl ♡ On the day I visited, they served a kiwi parfait.

It consisted of kiwi, sponge cake, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream, and was stuffed with kiwi all the way to the bottom.

The fruits change with the seasons, and instead of using a set fruit for a certain period, they use whatever is most delicious at the time. It's always exciting to see what kind of fruit will be served♪

Next up is the new menu item, the "Waffle Plate" (660 yen).

The warm, crispy waffle was topped with a generous amount of vanilla ice cream. As you eat it, the melted vanilla ice cream seeps into the waffle, giving it a moist texture.

Shown behind the waffles are "Coffee" (495 yen) and "Hot Chai" (605 yen).

The coffee is made using beans from COFFEE BOY in Numamoto-cho, Kokuraminami-ku, and is carefully brewed one cup at a time.

Homemade ginger syrup is used in the "Hot Chai". The balance of milk and black tea is just right, and the aroma of ginger is a nice accent. As a chai lover, this was an irresistible treat for me!

By the way, the dishes the waffles were served on were very beautiful and caught my eye. When I asked about it, I learned that many of the dishes used in the store are works by Arita ware artists and Thai craftsmen. If you visit, be sure to check out the dishes too!

Owner's recommendation! Soda made with homemade ginger syrup

Another drink that uses homemade ginger syrup like the "Hot Chai" is the "Homemade Ginger Soda" (605 yen).

The moment you drink it, the refreshing aroma of ginger fills your mouth. It has a refreshing taste with just the right amount of sweetness and is delicious.

Children are welcome! Enjoy a relaxing cafe time with your child.

You can bring a stroller if it's not crowded.

There were also menu items that you could enjoy with children, such as "Ice Cream" (385 yen) and "Apple Juice" (385 yen).

Our 0-year-old son was in a great mood, pointing at different places and smiling! He seemed very happy to be doted on by the regular customers.

It was a wonderful shop where families could relax and enjoy flowers and cafe. They serve "Ginger Rice" (275 yen) only during weekend events, so I'd like to try that next time♪
