[Tenjin Cafe] A must-see for those with a sweet tooth! Exquisite bean-to-bar chocolate sweets (Fukuoka City)

2024.11.20

Hello! I'm Piroto, a gourmet tour guide in Fukuoka city.

This time, we will introduce a chocolate specialty shop in Imaizumi, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City, that is recommended for those with a sweet tooth in Fukuoka.

Everything from cacao beans to chocolate is done by hand! Japanese chocolate manufacturer "green bean to bar CHOCOLATE Fukuoka store" (Imaizumi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)

"green bean to bar CHOCOLATE" has its main store in Nakameguro, Tokyo, with stores also in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Fukuoka.

The "Fukuoka store" we are introducing this time is about a 6-minute walk from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station, and is located near the "Don Quijote Fukuoka Tenjin Main Store" along Kokutai Road.

"Bean to bar" refers to a manufacturing method that involves an integrated process from the cacao bean to the chocolate bar. At "green bean to bar CHOCOLATE," we carefully select and purchase high-quality cacao beans directly from cacao farms around the world, and produce chocolate by hand in our in-store laboratory.

The restaurant has a high ceiling and a spacious interior with plenty of depth. There are both table seats and counter seats, making it easy for both single and multiple people to dine here.

The illustrations on the walls and the lighting are stylish, giving the entire store a warm feeling.

The counter seats overlook the lab, allowing you to enjoy your cafe time while watching the process of making chocolate.

There is also a space at the back with several tables and seats. This area is surrounded by large windows, so natural light pours in during the day and it feels nice.

For eat-in customers, you order and pay before moving to your seat. The display case is lined with a wide variety of sweets and baked goods made with bean-to-bar chocolate.

First, there is the popular "Eclair" (803 yen). It is mainly made up of three components: choux pastry, chocolate bar, and chocolate cream. The fluffy choux pastry and smooth, rich chocolate cream go perfectly together, and the crispy texture of the chocolate bar adds an accent. It is a highly satisfying dessert that allows you to enjoy a variety of textures and flavors.

The "Brownie" (left, pictured below, 440 yen) is a light and crumbly treat, and the moment you bite into it, the chocolate flavor fills your mouth. The texture of the walnuts adds a wonderful accent to the flavor.

The "Rock Chocolate Muffin (Plain)" (right in the photo below, 385 yen) is a muffin topped with chocolate. It's small in size and just the right amount of sweetness, so it's easy to eat.

There is also a wide variety of sweets and baked goods available, and limited-time menu items are often available.

This is the limited-time menu "Ronron" (825 yen, no longer on sale) at the time of our visit. It is a cute-shaped cake made with plenty of Japanese chestnuts. It was a luxurious dish that allowed us to enjoy the bittersweet chocolate mousse, chestnut cream with the gentle sweetness of Japanese chestnuts, smooth ganache, and the sourness of blackcurrant all at once!

You're sure to discover new flavors every time you visit.

Drinkable chocolate? The perfect drink to go with your sweets

Of course, we also have drinks that go perfectly with chocolate.

These are "American Coffee Ice" (left, 545 yen) and "Cacao Tea Ice" (right, 424 yen). In order to create a flavor that goes well with chocolate, the type of coffee beans used changes depending on the season.

Next is the "Chocolate Drink (Iced)" (666 yen).

You can enjoy the rich, creamy chocolate, making it the perfect "chocolate to drink"! For the flavor, I chose "Today's Original" (raspberry on this day). The addition of raspberry gives it a richer aroma. It would also be good to drink it hot to warm you up in the cold season.

A chocolate bar perfect as a gift or as a treat for yourself!

A variety of products, including chocolate bars, are on sale near the entrance of the store.

It is made using hojicha tea harvested in Ukiha City, and is a popular product that allows you to enjoy the rich taste of chocolate while also feeling the sweetness and aroma of the tea leaves.
