[Ukiha's new spot] Perfect for a drive! "Enjoy the luxury of fresh fruit" at this sister store of the popular cafe
Hello♪ I'm chippachapus and I love going to cafes.
This time, we will introduce you to a shop that opened on September 10, 2024, that you should definitely stop by for a snack while touring Ukiha!
The concept is "freshly picked fruits from Ukiha"! Hakusui (Yoshii-cho, Ukiha City) is a sister store of "Kawasemi Danish" that opened on Shirakabe Street.
"Hakusui" is located in Yoshii-cho, Ukiha City.
It is located on Shirakabe Street, where many cafes and shops have been renovated from white-walled, storehouse-style townhouses.
In fact, this shop is a sister store of the popular fruit danish specialty shop "Kingfisher Danish," which offers both eat-in and take-out. The two shops are next door to each other.
"Kingfisher Danish" expresses the charm of freshly picked fruits of Ukiha City through Danish pastries, while "Hakusui" offers a variety of sweets themed around freshly picked fruits of Ukiha City.
Once you step inside Hakusui, which has an atmosphere of an old Japanese house, you will find yourself in a space that combines Japanese and European styles.
The antique tables, chairs, shelves, etc., each with a different design, were all very stylish.
There are four tables available, so you can relax and enjoy the view of the city.
Three flavors available! Enjoy fluffy shaved ice made with Ukiha fruits and homemade ingredients
Currently, you can enjoy three types of shaved ice made with Ukiha fruits (1,450 yen each, Yame tea included).
All of the flavors are made with carefully selected homemade ingredients, including the fruit, sauces, and cream. They are served on fluffy ice that is carefully temperature-controlled.
I'll introduce them one by one.
First up is the "Strawberry Pistachio Shaved Ice."
From the top, it is topped with strawberry compote, strawberry koji, pistachio sauce, and hidden inside is rosemary ice cream, yuzu jelly, meringue, and strawberry compote.
The strawberry koji is homemade and is combined with koji to bring out the sweetness of the strawberries. The slightly rough texture and sweetness of the strawberries were well balanced with the rich yet refreshing pistachio sauce.
The yuzu jelly, meringue, and strawberry compote hidden at the bottom had a moist and crunchy texture and a great tart taste of strawberry and yuzu.
I enjoyed the different combinations until the very end and it was delicious.
Next up is "Shine Muscat Shaved Ice."
From the top, it consists of Shine Muscat, creme d'Anjou (a type of rare cheesecake), Shine Muscat puree syrup, meringue, lemon verbena jelly, green tea jelly, Italicus jelly, and Shine Muscat.
First of all, I was surprised by the sweetness of the Shine Muscat.
The creme d'anjou underneath was creamy and went perfectly with the sweetness of the Shine Muscat.
The meringue, lemon verbena jelly, green tea jelly, and Shine Muscat at the bottom all spread in your mouth, giving off a gentle green tea flavor and refreshing lemon taste.
I'm happy that I can enjoy Shine Muscat until the very end.
This is "Fig Shaved Ice."
When it is served, it looks pure white. From the top, it consists of tonka milk sauce, white bean butter ice cream, fig compote sauce, fig compote, panna cotta, and comes with a side of "red wine fig jelly".
If you like, you can enjoy it with red wine fig jelly.
The jelly was filled with chunks of fruit pulp, and was deliciously juicy and sweet. The crunchy texture of the figs added a nice accent to the taste.
The spicy taste of the tonka milk sauce really brings out the flavor of the sweet figs and red wine - it's delicious!
The white bean paste butter ice cream has the texture of white bean paste but is smooth.
Each shaved ice was packed with the deliciousness of the main fruit, and the homemade ingredients made them even more delicious.
It was a luxurious dessert that was like shaved ice but not exactly like shaved ice.
At the neighboring sister store, Kingfisher Danish, you can currently enjoy three types of Danish pastries (450 yen each).
From the left, fig, Shine Muscat and Kyoho grapes, and pear jelly. They were perfect as souvenirs.
This new store is already popular, so be sure to check it out! (Text by chippachapus)
