2024.09.24

Hello! I'm Piroto, a gourmet tour guide in Fukuoka city.

This time, we will introduce you to an izakaya in Daimyo, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City that serves delicious vegetables and is perfect for a date or girls' night out.

"Oyasai to Watashi Daimyo Midori" (Daimyo, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City) is a stylish izakaya where you can enjoy teppanyaki dishes made with seasonal vegetables in a special atmosphere.

"Vegetables and Me Daimyo Midori" opened in December 2023.

You can enjoy teppanyaki dishes made with seasonal vegetables sourced from all over the country in a stylish, sophisticated space.

The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building in a back alley in Daimyo, about a 7-minute walk from Akasaka Station on the Subway Kuko Line.

After entering the store, I went to the counter seat. It was a bright, clean, warm space with a wooden motif. I could hang my luggage on the hook under the seat.

It is an open kitchen, so you can see the cooking process right in front of you!

There are three tables for four people, so it's perfect for a drinking party (especially a girls' night out). The plants and dried flowers scattered throughout the restaurant are stylish!

I also felt the thoughtfulness of the staff in providing hanger racks and blankets. It's a popular restaurant and customers were constantly coming in, so I recommend making a reservation in advance.

The specialty is "grilled vegetables"! A variety of exquisite dishes that bring out the best in the ingredients

"Grilled Vegetables" is a teppanyaki dish where you can enjoy the deliciousness of seasonal vegetables sourced from all over Japan. There are six types of grilled vegetables available at all times, and the lineup changes every month.

On this day, there were six kinds of vegetables: "Manganji peppers from Kyoto", "zucchini from Nagano", "Okra from Yoshimoto Farm", "Potatoes from Hokkaido", "Tomatoes from Hokkaido", and "Mulukhiya from Saga". The fresh vegetables that will actually be used are lined up on the counter!

One order of "grilled vegetables" is enough for about two people to share.

Let's start with the "Zucchini from Nagano Prefecture" (700 yen).

Thick zucchini topped with mapo sauce and plenty of minced meat, with a slightly spicy flavor. It has a juicy texture and is easy to eat because it is cut into pieces!

Next up is the "Hokkaido Tomato" (700 yen), baked wrapped in parsley and cheese and served with a baguette.

It's baked slowly in the bag, and has just the right balance of sweetness and sourness. It also goes great with olive oil and cheese!

And my favorite is "Hokkaido Potatoes" (650 yen).

The sweet potatoes are drenched in a rich, sour cream and onion sauce. The part of the potato that was on the hot plate is nicely browned, giving it a crispy texture that is irresistible.

The vegetable lineup changes every month, so it's nice to be able to enjoy what's in season at any given time.

A wide variety of food menus to go well with alcohol!

In addition to grilled vegetables, there is a wide variety of menu items such as salads, fried foods, and meat dishes.

First up is the classic "Midori's Grilled Potato Salad" (700 yen). The potatoes are piping hot and the portion is quite filling. The bottom part is grilled cheese, which is creamy and rich in flavor.

Next up is the "Mitsuse Chicken with Lotus Root Scissors Fried" (600 yen). The crunchy texture of the lotus root and the delicious flavor of the Mitsuse chicken are exquisite, and the size makes it easy to eat.

And then there's the "Teppan Soy Milk Dashimaki" (medium 600 yen, large 800 yen *the photo shows the medium size), which is grilled on a hot plate. On top of the egg is soy sauce koji, which gives it a savory flavor and saltiness that makes it even more delicious with sake!

Finally, to finish off the meal, we ordered the "Teppan Yakisoba with Plenty of Vegetables" (950 yen). This is a yakisoba with sauce filled with pork and colorful vegetables. It was delicious whether eaten alone or mixed with the noodles.
