Enjoy a satisfying lunch at a popular spot in Karatsu! A stylish cafe that will make you want to buy the dishes too (Saga Prefecture)
Hello. I'm Yuri and I love stylish cafes.
This time we're heading to Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture!
We introduce you to a noteworthy dining and cafe where you can enjoy dishes made with an abundance of seasonal local vegetables served on Karatsu ware.
It's about an hour from central Fukuoka on the highway, so it's also recommended for a day trip.
Movie theater, gallery... KARAE TABLE, a stylish cafe inside the KARAE complex where you can enjoy a whole day (Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture)
KARAE is a complex that opened in October 2019, located just a two-minute walk from JR Karatsu Station.

It is a complex commercial facility with restaurants, a movie theater, shops, galleries and guided tourism on the first floor, shared offices and rental space on the second floor, and a hotel on the third floor.
This healing space was born from the desire to "rediscover the vast and deep charm of Karatsu, not only to visitors but also to those who live here."

If you visit Karatsu, make sure to come here first and you'll have a great day there.
One place I would like to introduce in particular is the cafe "KARAE TABLE" located on the first floor of "KARAE."
The interior of the store is stylish, with a natural feel, and is bright and clean.

There are picture books and children's chairs available, so you can feel safe bringing small children with you.

A nutritious lunch made with locally produced ingredients served in Karatsu ware!
This time, I visited for lunch (11:30-L.O. 14:30).
You can enjoy nutritious dishes made with plenty of ingredients sourced from local producers.

This is "Homemade soup with plenty of vegetables and chicken ham salad" (1,050 yen, +300 yen with drink).
Salad with homemade herb chicken, seasonal vegetable soup, bread, and yogurt with homemade fruit confiture are served on one plate. Colorful!

The salad has a delicious, tangy dressing that pairs perfectly with the herb chicken.

The seasonal vegetable soup was pumpkin.
It's not too sweet and very easy to drink. You can also dip bread into it.

By the way, the soup mug is a work by Kumamoto Zo, a pottery artist from Karatsu's Sekisui Kiln.

It was quite filling, so I was completely full.
This is the "Special Keema Curry with Sakura Pork and Seasonal Vegetables" (1,200 yen, +300 yen for a drink) which uses "Hizen Sakura Pork" produced in Saga Prefecture.

The chopped zucchini and boiled eggs look cute, but the taste is authentic.
It is a special flavour made by mixing various spices.

It's moderately spicy, but not too hot, so it's great for kids too.
The dishes used are apparently works by Karatsu pottery artist Saddam Yoshinaga of Hakuhanagama.
The extensive drink menu is also appealing
The drink menu includes around 30 varieties, such as "Hand-Drip Specialty Coffee" (650 yen) served in Karatsu ware, "Murayama Milk Milk" (400 yen, hot/iced) made with Karatsu's brand of milk "Murayama Milk," "Murayama Milk Matcha Latte" (550 yen, hot/iced), "Murayama Milk Royal Milk Tea" (550 yen, hot/iced), "Murayama Soft Coffee Float" (680 yen), as well as "Tapioca Brown Sugar Milk Tea" (500 yen) and "Homemade Seasonal Smoothie" (680 yen).

On the left is "Viennese Coffee" (500 yen) and on the right is "Homemade Honey Lemon Soda" (550 yen).

"Homemade Honey Lemon Soda" is a drink that combines the bitterness of lemon peel and the sweetness of plenty of honey with strong carbonation.
The "Vienna Coffee" has a creamy and rich taste. I enjoyed the contrast between the smoothness of the cold cream and the hot, bitter coffee that followed.
For breakfast (7:30-10:00), sets including sandwiches and French toast are available.
