[Hakata Station area] Vegetable skewers and steamed dumplings are great! A popular yakitori izakaya that's sure to get repeat customers (Fukuoka City)

Hello. I'm Masaki, a writer who loves hidden gourmet spots.

This time, we will introduce a stylish izakaya that opened in front of Hakata Station in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City on July 5, 2024.

Opening in July 2024! "Sake Tokushi Ototto" is a yakitori izakaya that boasts "vegetable-wrapped skewers" (Hakata Station, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)

Sake Tokushi Ototto is located about a 10-minute walk from the Hakata exit of JR Hakata Station.

This is an izakaya where you can enjoy a la carte dishes that go well with alcohol, as well as a wide variety of yakitori, including the original "vegetable rolls."

The owner, Mr. Shibata, spent around 10 years training at "Baysix Co., Ltd.", which operates popular restaurants such as "Gorion-san" and "Meat Man" mainly in Tokyo, before going independent and opening his own restaurant in his hometown of Fukuoka.

The restaurant consists of counter seats where you can watch the cooking and chat with the friendly owner, as well as table seats with a lovely atmosphere.

Original skewers! "Lettuce wraps", "Sukiyaki" and "Yakisoba" are must-try dishes

The menu is here. We have a wide variety of yakitori, including our popular "vegetable rolls," as well as special dishes and seasonal specials.

This time, we tried the food and drinks recommended by the chef.

First, the chef shows the customers the arranged "vegetable rolls" (before they are grilled).

There is a wide variety of dishes available, from the specialty "Lettuce Roll" (450 yen) to classics and more original creations.

The colors are nice.

You can choose between salt (photo right) or cheese (photo left) for your "Lettuce Wrap." I had both.

The lettuce had a nice crisp texture and the seasoning was excellent. The salt brought out the flavor and fat of the pork, and the cheese added an accent to the texture, giving it a rich flavor.

The "All-purpose Green Onion" (380 yen) also has a great contrast between the fragrantly grilled pork belly and the crunchy green onions. It's delicious.

The "vegetable rolls" here, including "lettuce wraps" and "green onions," are characterized by their crisp texture. The perfect doneness brings out the best flavor of the vegetables.

We also recommend original "vegetable rolls" such as "Sukiyaki" (540 yen) and "Yakisoba" (350 yen).

Sukiyaki is pork seasoned with a sweet and rich flavor. Adding egg yolk adds a mild yet sweet flavor, making it even richer and more delicious.

It was my first time seeing skewered "yakisoba."

The inside of the meat is stuffed with yakisoba noodles, which have a sweet and soft texture that I had never experienced before.

Specialty dishes are also a highlight

Another attraction of "Sake Tokushi Ototto" is its "exquisite dishes."

The "Goma Kanpachi" (980 yen) uses fish purchased by the owner at the market every morning, and is extremely fresh, with an irresistible elasticity and fattiness. It was very delicious.

"Ototto's Potato Salad" (630 yen), which contains the snack "Ototto" from the store's name, is a highly recommended item that looks great too.

The yolk of the soft-boiled egg went perfectly with the sweetness of the potatoes.

There was also the Hakata specialty "Takigyoza" (6 pieces for 1,080 yen).

The gyoza dumplings are cooked in a soup that has been slowly simmered to bring out the flavor of pork bones and chicken carcasses.

The soup was full of umami and pork bone flavor, and it was a wonderful taste that went well with sake. The gyoza was hot, soft, and delicious with plenty of flavor soaked into the gyoza skin.

Once you've finished about half of the "Takigyoza", you can choose between "Karamen" (600 yen) or "Shime Chanpon Noodles" (500 yen) as your final dish.

This time I had the "Karamen" (spicy noodles). They use mild chili peppers, so it's not as spicy as it looks.

The sweetness of the eggs added to the flavor and made it very delicious.

Sparkling Fruits: A gorgeous and exciting drink!

This time, the recommended dish is paired with "Fruit Sparkling" (1,080 yen).

It's a sparkling wine with lots of seasonal fruit in it, and when I visited it was Muscat.

There is a measure underneath the glass, so the wine is poured to the brim, which is nice! It goes without saying that it goes well with Muscat.

The period during which Muscat will be available has not yet been decided, so please get it while you can.

I'm glad I was able to enjoy delicious food in a lovely atmosphere. Thank you for the meal. (Text by Masaki)
