Perfect for fun in the sea! Genkai Yokocho, a fishing port food stall village rich in the bounty of the sea (Kamiminato, Munakata City)
Genkai Yokocho is located in Kamiminato, Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture, facing the Genkai Sea. It is about a 5-minute drive from the very popular Munakata Roadside Station.

Genkai Yokocho is a "fisherman's food stall village" where food stalls are run directly by fishermen.

The recommended dish is "Anago Chazuke" (1,500 yen), available for a limited time only until Saturday, August 31st.

In fact, Munakata City is the number one city in the prefecture for conger eel catches. Conger eels, which grow up in the rough waves of the Genkai Sea, are characterized by their firm flesh and rich, flavorful fat!

The dish served here is "Anago Chazuke" made by the head chef of the neighboring "Genkai Ryokan." First, pour roasted sesame soy sauce over it and enjoy it as a bowl of rice.

Then, halfway through, I poured dashi over it and enjoyed it as conger eel chazuke, which I enjoyed in two different ways!

Not only can you enjoy meals, but you can also play in the sea! At Genkai Yokocho, you can use the changing rooms and showers even if you only order one drink.

Life jackets, swim rings, water tricycles, etc. are also available for rental (each at an extra cost).
There is also an indoor water play area where small children can splash around under the supervision of their parents.

Genkai Yokocho makes summer beach activities even more enjoyable. Even after the beach season is over, you can still enjoy seafood dishes, and it also operates as an oyster hut in the winter.
