Halo-Halo Watermelon Flavor! [Ministop] Three "Cool Sweets" Perfect for Summer

I'm Masayo Sakamoto, a writer who loves convenience store sweets.

This time, we will introduce the "Halo Halo Fruit Ice Watermelon," "Bitter Coffee Jelly," and "Blueberry Yogurt Parfait" that are currently on sale at "Ministop."

1: The same fresh and delicious taste! "Halo Halo Fruit Ice Watermelon"

First up is the "Halo Halo Fruit Ice Watermelon" (440 yen), which was released in July 2024.

The seedless black watermelon is frozen within two days of harvest to lock in its sweetness, then poured over a syrup made from watermelon juice (10%) and snow salt, and topped with "vanilla soft serve ice cream."

Anyway, I was surprised at how sweet the frozen watermelon was. It was cut into thin slices, but it had plenty of flesh and a crunchy, refreshing texture! It also had a clean aftertaste, making it perfect for summer.

When you mix them all together, the rich milk flavor of the "Vanilla Soft Serve Ice Cream" matches the freshness of the watermelon perfectly, creating a creamy and mellow taste.

The snow salt adds a nice accent, subtly bringing out the richness and depth of the watermelon.

It was a sweet that was packed with the charm of watermelon.

2: A frappe for adults! "Mix and drink bitter coffee jelly"

This is the "Mix and Drink Bittersweet Coffee Jelly" (407 yen), which has been on sale since June 2024.

It was apparently a big hit last year, so there are probably people who have been waiting for its return!

The coffee jelly is topped with ice and vanilla soft serve ice cream.

First, I scooped up the coffee jelly and tried it. It wasn't sweet at all, just rich coffee! It had a mellow aroma and flavor. Each serving contained 240mg of caffeine. This jelly is for adults.

The drink is meant to be mixed and drunk, so I mixed the coffee jelly, ice, and vanilla soft serve ice cream thoroughly.

The coffee jelly was soft, so it crumbled easily and turned into a frappe.

The bittersweet coffee jelly and rich milk flavor go perfectly with the rich soft serve ice cream! It tastes almost like a cafe latte, and you can enjoy the bitterness until the very end. It's a satisfying dish that's also very filling.

3. Blueberry Yogurt Parfait: A luxurious treat filled with chunks of blueberries!

Last but not least, we have the "Blueberry Yogurt Parfait" (495 yen), which was released in July 2024.

This parfait has a refreshing taste, with blueberries and yogurt topped with soft-serve vanilla ice cream and blueberry sauce.

The blueberries used are large Canadian blue crop blueberries that have a good balance of sweet and sour. They are so luxurious and chunky!

The yogurt is made using raw milk from Tokachi, Hokkaido. It is lightly sweet and rich in flavor, so delicious you'll want to eat it all by itself...!

Mix it well with the "Vanilla Soft Serve Ice Cream" and enjoy a very refreshing taste. Mix it with the sweet blueberry sauce for just the right amount of sweetness.

The purple color that appears when mixed is very pretty, making this a dessert that is enjoyable to look at as well.

If you want to enjoy the "Blueberry Yogurt Parfait" even more, there is also the "Tokumori Blueberry Yogurt Parfait" (701 yen) which has twice the amount of blueberries.
